Both aren't the best sets of shows, although I've yet to watch Make it or Break it, but at least the acting and writing is slightly more top notch on 90210 and Gossip Girl.

I'd say watch House M.D. (FOX) and/or How I Met Your Mother (CBS). Both have humor and House almost always has a good plot line. HIMYM is just straight up funny.
