He definitely imitates John Smith, even the hair and the clothes. Just look at the concept art. But his personality is more like Phoebus. More relaxed, humorous...

I know when I first saw the concept art for Eugene ( as I perfer to call him)I did think he resembled John Smith.Of course after seeing Tangled many times,and good look at him,he don't resmble John so much. Yeah I think John and Eugene resmble each other a little but not a whole lot.Eugene has brown hair and eyes and goatee on his chin while John has blonde hair and blue eyes. Thier hair style is a little differnt but the hair lenghth is pretty close to each other.

I say a few things John and Eugene have in comon is:

1.Their hair lenghth is close to being same
2.Their clothes is almost the same except John wears an amor Eugene wears vest plus belt with small pouch.
3.They both do carry a satchel except Eugene's satchel is little bigger while John's is little smaller.
4.They both love adventure
5.They both are close to same height
6. They both have last names compare to all the other Disney Princes/ leading male roles who have first name but no last name.Only difference is John Smith has one name while Eugene Fitzherbert has two differnt names which the other is Flynn Rider
7. They both start out as ignorant cocky selfish men who think they know everything but later change due to meeting their princesses who opens up their eyes to world around them.
8. They both scarficed their lives to save their princesses
9.They both are not born into royalty as they both are commoners, but married into royalty except John as he never married Pocahontas
10. They both feel in love with a princess

I think that's all I can think of other than those things they are way differnt.

can't deny that the hairdo is similar....but maybe that's just how the disney heroes like their hair!

I don't think he is similar to either of them, to be honest, I love Phoebus and John and I love Eugene/Flynn but to me they are completely different. I like that Eugene/Flynn managed to be an original character and not a rip off some other Disney male character.

I have to say Eugene is way hotter then Phebous! And Eugene pulls off the goatee on his chin way better then Phebous does! But that's me of course. And I hate to admit this as I have been die hard of John Smith for years,but I do think Eugene is little more hotter then Smith! Of course I love them both and both are my top 3 favorites of princes and male leads,but I love Eugene just little more. Of course John is close behind Eugene.

Look like...You mean appearences,right? Well, I love them both 1-John and then 2- Flynn. But I don't think they look alike.There is some similar concept art,though, but that's not a big deal so no....As far as Phoebus is concerned? Not really...

For me he looks like Phoebus but he looks like a cross between Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp[Johnny Depp for the goatee beard]and Orlando Bloom for his overall appearance.


They just can't get my nose right OMG I love him.

I prefer him to be himself.

He kind of doesn't look like them though if I had to pock 1 iy'll be JOhn Smith
