I'm obv not part of StarKid, but I can partly answer your questions...

They are a group of 프렌즈 from the musical theatre department of 대학 of Michigan. (they have now graduated and started officially as Team Starkid productions in chicago) They put on the production of AVPM mainly for their 프렌즈 and family, so I suppose most of the audience was 프렌즈 etc. But when they made AVPS they had grown in popularity so many 팬 went to see it performed.
