I remember visiting this website once...
It was called Shadowhunters Q&A At New York Comic Con
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
We went to the panel in the Empire Room at Comic Con and here\'s our live report! Remember, scroll to the bottom to get a play-by-play of the event!
Join us later for some photographs from the autograph signing! And, to see the exclusive clip we mentioned earlier, go here!
McG says that they shot most of the show in Toronto, but they go to great lengths to get New York right. Particularly in the way that the show ... wait! another fan has been pulled on stage!
A fan has asked about the cast\'s favorite part of the Shadow World
Clary and Emeraude\'s answers were really interesting. That women should work together to take care of each other. The bond between Clary and Isabelle is a relationship that is based on working together. When Clary comes into the story, Isabelle could be really mean to her and really possessive about her role, but instead she welcomes her and becomes a sort of big sister to her.
A fan asked Cassie if she was able to oversee how close the production was to the books:
"Writers can\'t really do that. We can only put our trust in the movie or the show and hope! In this case, this is a smart team of people and they\'re very good so I\'ll be watching it with you when it airs....We\'ll have a big Shadowhunters party."
Check out them runes! Team! She\'s wearing pretty much every kind of Shadowhunters cosplay - and she has a lot of awesome things to say! She\'s come through so much! And she gets to hug everyone on stage. Including Cassie!
When reading the books, was there a specific part that you were really excited to film?
Alberto says he was most interested in the journey that Simon goes on, and how he\'s going to wrestle with the feelings of being in love with his best friend.
Dominic says he was really excited to film the slap scene ("The other 10%"). It turns out that Katherine has quite a slap on her, and she really clocked him.
After Cassie Clare spoke of how much she loved the casting of Luke, Dominic took a moment to call out Isaiah as a father figure on set:
"Isaiah is a genuine beautiful soul in this world and it\'s so wonderful to have someone to look up to, as an actor and as a person. I want to be just like him."
Wow. That\'s a lot. And Isaiah seems very touched.
Emeraude spoke earlier about being a Latina actress and how grateful she was that the audience has embraced her as Isabelle. Alberto followed up with a thought about being a guy named Alberto Rosende playing a guy named Simon Lewis:
"If you\'re true to yourself and true to your heritage, you\'ll get where you\'re going."
11:35am: A question for Matt and Harry about Malec
A fan asked Matt and Harry about playing Malec and whether they have any advice.
"Advice wise," said Harry, "just be yourself. We\'re living in a world that\'s a lot more open to seeing things they\'re not used to and that\'s a powerful thing."
Turns out that Dominic is a little bit clumsy with the steles and he\'s broken up to, 13! While, Matthew has broken exactly none. It\'s a rivalry! Who broke the most stuff!
When the team talk runes, there\'s a lot to say about this.
Katherine said that what interests her most about the runes is how they evolve and how they change. When they\'re first put on, they\'re very painful looking. It starts as a prosthetic, and the color changes and evolves. So it was fun for her to learn about how things heal, and how the runes look over time.
Cassie says that her favorite part of her involvement in the show was the casting process. When she saw Dominic Sherwood, she thought, "it\'s him." Even though some thought he looked a little bit "mean," Cassie saw a spark in him.
Everyone in the cast seems really close and happy to know one another! They all have such nice things to say about each other!
By the way, if you\'re following along, Ed Decter has announced the premiere date!
The cast says they spent a tremendous amount of time working out together. They were on set, and then in the gym, and then asleep. They all got into good enough shape to get through the stunts easily. Matthew said that it\'s really created a family atmosphere and spending so much time together has really bonded them.
"What I love about Magnus Bane is that on the outside, he\'s got all this glitter and make up: but inside he\'s very compassionate and he really wants to help. Even though he does need some form of payment."
He doesn\'t want to leave Clary alone. He doesn\'t ever want to be without him."
"If you\'re a fan of Malec ...you might be happy." - Matthew Daddario
"I\'m the older guy on the cast and I have to watch out for everybody and make sure they do the right thing."
"For me the biggest thing that we brought to Jace was his arrogance and his contempt for his own mortality. He\'s a little bit devil-may-care. And then later, we grow into Jace\'s history and his past, and we learn that Jace can be a little vulnerable at times."
"I love Clary because she has this blend of strength and vulnerability and she has this huge journey that really only begins in the first season."
On creating the pilot episode, Showrunner Ed Decter and Executive Producer McG had this to say.
They wanted to get it right. Ed Decter said that the show has a lot of surprises in store for die hard book fans, with creations from throughout Cassie\'s Shadow World. And McG says that while the show was being created, they really wanted to honor the fan base by having actors that can shoulder the responsibility of such great characters. We\'re in good hands, team.
When Cassie was asked how she hopes fans will react...
Cassie says that she hopes that the audience will come to it with an open mind and that they can all experience the show together.
The panel! From left to right, author Cassie Clare, Executive Producer and the Director of Episode One, McG!, Showrunner and Executive Producer Ed Decter, Alberto Rosende (Simon), Dominic Sherwood (Jace), Katherine McNamara (Clary), Emeraude Toubia (Isabelle), Matthew Daddario (Alec), Harry Shum, Jr (Magnus Bane), and Isaiah Mustafa (Luke).
