In the DH2 film why did Severus whip out and point his wand at Harry in the Great Hall?

DId He want to duel with Harry? /O\ Shouldn't he try to tell Harry about the horcrux?

He did not whip his wand at Harry but at Minerva. You'll also notice that as she steps in front of him (pushing Harry at the same time), he lowers his wand a bit, as if he does not wish to hurt her. That's the reason why he flees after - to hurt 또는 kill nobody.

Besides, he could not tell Harry then about the Horcruxes ! He's supposed to be loyal to Voldemort. Have 당신 noticed the Carrows standing behind him ? And the Slytherins in the Great Hall ? He just could not tell Harry anything that could have shown he was on the boy's side.

I think he only raised his wand in defense of himself--he knows Harry will likely start firing curses, and he's just preparing. After all, Harry has already attempted to fight Snape (right after Dumbledore was killed) and although Snape easily blocked Harry's attack that time, Harry has had a 년 to work on his skills (and for his anger to ferment.)

As others have said above me, it would have been impossible for Snape to tell Harry anything at that point--he was still playing the role of the loyal Death Eater and the time. And considering how angry Harry was, I doubt he would have listened to anything Snape had to say.

And if 당신 think about it, him bringing out his wand first upon Harry and group, it reaffirms his loyalty to Voldemort, and also prevents both sides from falling into an all out battle in which everyone gets hurt 또는 possibly killed. Plus, when Minerva does respond, he gets to take out the Carrows. That was brilliant! LOL

It keeps up his 'facade' of loyalty to old and moldy...LOL

He didn't whip it out and point it at Harry. If I remember correctly, he pulled it out when the large number of Order members strolled through the doors of the Great Hall (when Hogwarts was supposed to be on lock-down), and when Minerva stepped 앞으로 against him.

How, exactly, was he supposed to tell Harry? Like LadyNottingham said: they were in the middle of the Great Hall, surrounded 의해 people.

I can see it now...:p "Oh, 의해 the way Harry, 당신 need to kill the snake, there's something vitally important to the Dark Lord in Ravenclaw Tower that 당신 might want to destroy, 당신 have to sacrifice yourself for the good of Humanity, and...I desperately wanted to schtupp your mother. Ta!"

Bahaha! I'm sure that would go over real well!

The look on Harry's face at this revelation ? Priceless ! I sometimes wonder if JKR had not "killed" Severus before Harry knew of his 사랑 for Lily, just to avoid our Potions Master any further embarrassment...

Severus didn't know the diadem was a horcrux. ;)

And...he actually did draw on Harry, right after Harry finishes his "how dare 당신 stand where he stood" thing. Minerva steps up as soon as Severus draws.

I figured I remembered it that way, but I wanted to look for the clip before I said anything.

Great answer Karen - I 사랑 how 당신 put it : "deatheater free, Carrows free, and in the control of Minerva" - The very proof of how brilliant our Severus' Slytherin mind is.
