1.) It's opening scene kicks any scary movie's opening scene's but 6-0 any day. It's a legend and very realistic! No wonder the selling of caller ID systems six-folded after the movie came out. Even after seeing the film a hundred times, the opening scene scares the ever-living crap out of me any time I'm actually focusing to watch the movie, as in get really into it. And at any attention amount it's affective.
2.) It's an intelligent, detailed plot instead of bloody murdeers in a row.
3.) The killer's motive is very believable, nicely simple and fascinatingly psychological but not too dramatic. This can't be said of too many slashers.
And the final act all in all is brilliant, although I do wish that they'd somehow managed to reveal the identity only at the moment Billy turns to say "We all go a little mad sometimes." I mean, because he's been so obviously the killer throughout the entire film, it is obvious he's the one when he turns out not to be dead - and thus a lot of power is stripped off from the moment he turns and says the line. They could've had him enter the final act in some less visible way at which point he would've turned around and said that and we'd see he's indeed very much alive... But oh well, nothing can be perfect.
4.) The backstory is interesting as is how it ties into the present time: Sid's mom brutally murdered a 년 이전 and the hints that the current murders are related to it. ("If 당신 hang up on me you'll die just like your mother! Do 당신 wanna die, Sidney? Your mother sure didn't.", "Looks like 당신 fingered the wrong guy - again.", "You're not so sure anymore, are you? The kilelr is still out there. These murderes are related.") So I thought it would've gone without saying that Billy and Stu were the mother's murderers, but I guess it needed to be said as Billy likely wanted to rub it in Sid's face + it seemed like Sid didn't connect the dots in the situation which of course is understandable. Gawd, I 사랑 the final act!
5.) It's done quite well in order for the viewers to play detective, which is tons of fun to do when watching these kind of films. As in, it does a good job in throwing people off track and offering new suspects here and there. Some say they knew all along who the killer was but they are the people who just accept the most obvious and most highlighted and apparently don't like playing detective. I personally also wonder if anyone honestly knew it all along, as in even after they throw us completely off track 의해 "killing off" Billy in front of Sid. How can anyone still suspect Billy?!
6.) The humour is funny and it's great as a satire. As in, the light aspect of it balances the darkness well, but not too much. It's still much 더 많이 scary than comical movie.
7.) This means that the elements of horror, thriller and comedy have been blended in perfectly. Down to this 일 even after seeing the film some 100+ times since 1998 when I first saw it, I may get so into it that I'm just bouncing on my 좌석 talking to the characters as if I was watching it for the first time, even though I know the events 의해 heart.
8.) The whole bunch are relatable, realistic characters instead of stereotypical idiots that slasher films usually have.
9.) Ghostface / Father Death mask/costume is scary and beautiful. :P
10.) The film's story's world is so '90's. This is the most personal reason as it gets me nostalgic because I grew up during that decade. But I also think the '90's was one of the best decades there's been. I miss the atmosphere and some inventions long gone 의해 now.

SCREAM ranks as 3rd on the list of My All Time Favourite Movies. The first place's held 의해 Disney's The Lion King and the 초 의해 Peter Pan (the 2003 live-action) as those stories and characters hold very personal, emotional value and meaning to me whereas SCREAM is just totally awesome! <3
