The way I see it, television honestly hasn't changed much. Yes, there were some really memorable shows in the 80's and 90's that, without a doubt, made history, and will probably never be topped. However, we still have some very good shows today. Besides, were the cartoons back then really ALL awesome? There were probably some shows in the 80's and 90's that people (probably including you) thought sucked the big one.

Basically, my point is that TV is a mixture of good shows (The Transformers, G.I. Joe, He-Man, etc.) and bad shows (Captain Planet, Rainbow Brite, etc.). It's always been that way, and it always will be. Quite frankly, anyone who thinks TV was all awesome back then and sucks now is a nostalgia-tard (there's nothing wrong with reminiscing on things you grew up on, but problems will come up if you let yourself get blinded by nostalgia).

Flapjack is epic.
IMO TV is now better, because even if maybe the shows aren't as good (which I don't think is the case), there're more to choose from and it's easier to find something good.

Although there are quite a few recent kids shows that annoy the hell out of me. Fanboy and Chum Chum, for example. It appears people think kids these days laugh at anything.
