Outlander TV Series Wikipedia 

Outlander is an upcoming Anglo-American television drama series based on the Outlander novels by Diana Gabaldon.

In 1945, married WWII nurse Claire Randall finds herself transported back to 1743 Scotland, where she finds civil war and the dashing Scottish warrior Jamie Fraser.

In June 2013 Starz announced it had picked up the series for a 16-episode order, and production started in October 2013.

Gabaldon is a paid consultant on the series and has spent time on set.

On July 9, 2013, it was announced that Sam Heughan was cast as the lead role of Jamie Fraser.

Tobias Menzies was the second actor cast on August 8 in the dual roles of Frank and Jonathan Randall.

On September 4, 2013, Graham McTavish and Gary Lewis were added to the cast.

On September 11, 2013, it was announced that actress Caitriona Balfe was cast to play the protagonist Claire Randall.

Principal photography took place on location in Scotland during late 2013 and early 2014.
