I think it was more of a diversion than a choice. He does love Lindsey, and he's trying as hard as he can to cut romantic links with Peyton, and i think his proposal is just another way he is trying to do that. It was an important step for him, and no matter how the actual wedding turns out, its a step he had to take to help him realize what he actually is thinking in his heart.

i totally agree with you DeutschRockstar. that is a very good point. it may not have been the best way to do it or the most fantastic timing, but he had to take that first step.
