It was called ‘Gilmore Girls: A 년 in the Life’: Lorelai and Luke Wedding Spoilers | TVLine
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
Got a scoop request? An anonymous tip you’re dying to share? Send any/all of the above to
creator Amy Sherman-Palladino has said she hasn’t watched Season 7 and therefore didn’t see how hurt Richard and Emily were after the Paris elopement. But (SPOILER ALERT!) after all the therapy and healing in the revival, how could Lorelai get married without her mom present
Ausiello: Get with the proverbial program, Katie. This issue was put to bed last week in my wide-ranging post mortem with AS-P. Towards the end of the Q&A, she confirmed that Emily
nuptials (versus the impromptu, scaled-down evening-before ceremony you saw). And then in my follow-up story Sunday night, she explained that her original wedding plan — which was retooled for budgetary reasons — had everyone and their second cousin present and accounted for. “The wedding was originally a much bigger deal,” she said. “The wedding was a whole shebang. And then they took money away from us. Anything that has extras in it and costumes became a production nightmare. So we had to figure out how to make this wedding satisfying without doing ‘The Big Wedding.’” Speaking of which…

Question: You teased that you’d have some details on AS-P’s original wedding plan for Luke and Lorelai — so, spill! —Kate
Ausiello: The initial “shebang” was going to be “nuts,” she tells me, adding that it would’ve looked “less like a wedding and more like a Stars Hollow festival.” Among the proposed highlights: Lorelai would’ve sported multiple wedding dresses representing a variety of iconic looks — including the gown Jackie O wore when she wedded JFK. There would’ve also been “flash mob tricks.” As AS-P sums up: “It was going to be
.” In hindsight, the show’s fearless leader believes that smaller was indeed better. As she explained to me, “In paring all of the bells and whistles away, we get down to the crux of really what it is: It’s Luke, Lorelai and Rory. And that made it intimate and gave it more feeling.” Totally, 100 percent agree.
will land elsewhere or has the time come to move on? —William
Ausiello: Kathryn and her potty mouth have moved on. So should you.
‘s Black Fairy again? Will we also get an explanation as to why she steals babies and what happens to them afterwards? —Rebecca
Ausiello: Coming out of that fall finale, this comes as little surprise: “We are going to see a lot more of the Black Fairy (played by Jaime Murray),” series cocreator Adam Horowitz assures, “exploring her both in the past and present and learning more about Rumple’s relationship to his mother and the strange land from which she hails.”

Question: I know I’m not the only one who caught The Dragon mentioning a daughter in
Episode 8. Have the showrunners said anything lately about when Lily and Maleficent will be back? Or whether Emma will keep her promise to help Lily find her father? —Sabrina
Ausiello: In a word, “No,” that Dragon (played by Tzi Ma) has nothing to do with the mystery of Lily’s father, the series cocreators confirmed for Matt Mitovich. “We had high hopes” to revisit that story in Season 6, Eddy Kitsis shared, “but we just won’t get to it.”
, especially if Walter and Paige will be getting together mid-season and how long Paige’s mom will be around. —Dana
aka Veronica (played by Lea Thompson) will definitely be around as the CBS drama heads into 2017, following a short break after its Dec. 19 outing. And while Veronica’s grifter skills may bother Paige, her unique skill set will help the team in a few unconventional situations.
Question: Any chance J.J. Abrams will direct an episode of
Ausiello: Exec producer Jonathan Nolan laughed when we asked him your question, which is not a good sign. “I think we always ask,” he said. “I think he’s always busy.”
Westworld EPs Dish Dolores’ Decision, Ford’s Plan, Other Parks and Season 2: ‘We’re Gonna See a Lot of Flies’
tease about Roman! Something to speculate about until the show returns on January 4. Thank you. —Susan
Ausiello: “Going into the winter premiere, Jane and Roman’s relationship hangs by a thread,” co-executive producer Alex Berger points out. “To have any hope of stopping Sandstorm, Jane will need Roman to recover memories — but if he remembers her injecting him with ZIP, erasing his memory, it will tear them apart.”
Question: How long will we have to wait to find out the identity of Laurel’s baby daddy on
Ausiello: Only until the #TGIT hashtag returns to ABC Thursdays on Jan. 19. “We’ll get an answer to who the baby daddy is in the first episode back,” EP Pete Nowalk promises. Ultimately, though, there are concerns of equal importance — like whether Laurel’s unborn baby will survive “Fire Night,” and if a pregnant Laurel makes sense in the HTGAWM universe. “The grappling is really true for the character, as you’ll see,” hints Nowalk. “It’s part of Laurel’s story in the back half of the season.”
scoop? Specifically if we’ll see either Graham Rogers or Marcia Cross again this season? I’m very much missing Caleb and Claire Haas. Please tell me we haven’t seen the last of them! —Matty
Ausiello: We took your Cross question straight to showrunner Joshua Safran, who offered this cryptic response: “I can’t answer that, and I’ll let that non-answer be an answer.” And re: Rogers? “I can’t answer that, either.” Make of that what you will.
Ausiello: Well, Ashley, it isn’t going to be a happy holiday — though if you’ve been watching the show for the past seven seasons, you probably already guessed that. Candice King promises lots of tension between Caroline and Sybil, which she calls “the beginning of a lot of moments they’re going to share together in the coming weeks.” There’a also a scene in which Sybil gets to carve the holiday bird, a task she accomplishes “very aggressively.” (Shocker.)
Ausiello: Echo Kellum says that Curtis’ new vigilante gig will begin taking a toll on his marriage to Paul, adding that his alter ego’s other half is “definitely not going to be happy” when he learns out the truth. The actor also teases that Felicity will be “involved in whatever scheme” Curtis cooks up to cover up his whereabouts.

Question: I would happily accept a spoiler about any of NBC’s #OneChicago shows. Dealer’s choice. —Amy
‘s Natalie and Jeff are headed for their first big relationship test. “We find out there’s something that Jeff neglected to tell her,” executive producer Diane Frolov teases. “It causes conflict.” Adds star Torrey DeVitto: “He kind of drops a bomb on her. Let’s just say she’s less than pleased. She’s not happy about it in the slightest, and rightfully so.”
. Any truth to the rumor about another major departure? —Patrick
Ausiello: Zero truth. Exec producer Aaron Korsh assures us that there are no series regulars on the chopping block in the near future and “certainly not” in Season 6’s final six-episode run. However, he cautions, “You never know what the future will hold. It’s a long run. I never would have guessed that Jessica [played by Gina Torres] would have left.”
Question: Please, please, please give me something on the new season of
Ausiello: I’m hearing rumblings that there may be a memoir in the former POTUS Selina Meyer’s near future. Hit me with your best title (in the comments)!

‘s really going there later this season. Fox’s burgeoning hit is currently looking for a Sam Elliott type to play a patient at a psychiatric hospital who insists he is the one and only God Almighty. And he just may be. Per the casting notice, “Lucifer tries to prove him a phony, but he comes to find out that ‘God Johnson’ seems to know things that only Lucifer’s true Father would know.”

exactly my thought. I watched for a while and dropped it – he would bring me back!
I was going to say the same thing…. why get a Sam Elliot type, get the real Sam Elliot…. with his mustache too!
Yes. Yes. Yes. Put me on this list. Or maybe Nick Offerman. But The Stranger himself would be preferred.
Thank you! I thought I was the only one besides Michael who actually liked the movies.
No, you’re not the only ones that LOVED the Gilmore Girls revival!!! The episodes have been on repeat on my Netflix since they premiered!!! I loved the episodes and miss my Girls already!!! I hate all these people complaining about these wonderful episodes!!! Any TRUE Gilmore fan would love what they got…. Closure and more great Gilmore moments!
A TRUE Gilmore girls fan would love what they got!!!
I thing if you really are a fan you would appreciate whatever you could get, no matter how big or small! And think how lucky we were to get 4 90-min movies after 9 years, with almost, or basically every original cast member!!!
I mean I would’ve been fine with 1 90-min movie, so no complaining here… I ABSOLUTELY loved the revival :)
I watched the Gilmore Girls from the pilot. Never missed an episode. I have been continuing to watch the series on DVD since it ended. I am a TRUE fan. And I hated what they did with the movies. Hated it. Rory doesn’t resemble the character she used to be at all. She is a cheater and a quitter, which is not Rory Gilmore. Lorelai comes off as more selfish than ever. They did not begin to bring closure to the series AT ALL. Just thought you should know that you shouldn’t answer anything on behalf of all of us TRUE fans.
Rory slept with a married man (Dean) and quit Yale in the original show. Cheater and quitter.
So do I. I have watched the entire series 3 times since the revival announcement and am ready to start watching A Year in the Life for the 4th time. I took a break on the weekend to watch The Crown, which is excellent btw.
I wonder if we’ll ever see Nova the pink fairy back on OUAT or The Cellist on AOS or Esther Edelstein on Suits…
I see what you did there. If you must know, Sarah Adler is coming back on Macgyver in January I think.
Sam Elliott as GOD – what an awesome choice. So looking forward to that ep!
While I loved the intimate wedding on GG (it was magical!) I would have loved to have seen that AND the big one…..and I wouldn’t have minded if they had cut out most of the musical and L&D Brigade stuff to make room and money for that.
TRUTH!!! I thought the musical went on wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too long and the L&D stuff, wayyyyyyyyyy too long. I almost ffwd through both of them but kept thinking that there had to be a reason that it went on and on. I also kept thinking how much better it would be if it was not a 90 minute episode but a 45 minute one. All of that would have been cut out, which would have been great!
I totally agree. AS-P is whining about budget, but how much did the musical and the L&D Brigade scenes cost? The musical seemed like an excuse to get Sutton Foster in the show and added nothing to the series. I had less problem with the L&D Brigade, but it also had to have cost a fortune.
How hooked in to “The Ranch” is Sam Elliott?! Get him outta there – Lucifer NEEDS him! He’s perfect for the part. I’d gladly give up “The Ranch” in exchange for Sam on “Lucifer!”
Umm – got some news for the Suits folks. If Meghan Markle’s romance with Prince Harry lasts and they get hitched I’m thinking she will be leaving. Well, at least that’s what I would do!
It’s only a matter of time until he figures out what everyone who works with her has said – she’s a snotty brat.
There are four reasons why Harry’s family will never let him marry Meghan:
Individually they might be overlooked, but together they mean a marriage will never happen.
And William secured the lineage so it doesn’t really matter what Harry does. The fact that he’s hooked up with a nice woman with a brain is a good score.
William married a commoner who is obscenely popular the world over. The rest doesn’t matter.
Well if ASP cut the ridiculous musical and the god awful although I’m sure really expensive Life and Death Brigade scene, we could’ve seen the beautiful Luke and Lorelai wedding scene, which mind you most fans have been for years to watch.
As for HTGAWM i’m wondering if the father of Laurel’s baby is Wes but maybe Laurel didn’t have time to tell Wes before he was killed. This way a part of Wes lives on.
A who’s the daddy storyline was a misstep in HTGAWM. It’s doesn’t add anything. Laurel and (most of) the others will still feel maximum grief after Wes’ death. It’s a plot device that is beneath the show. Take out the baby and Laurel still grieves for Wes and still has intense feelings for Frank.
I wonder about that, too. I don’t know that I see Laurel’s baby surviving, given all the trauma Laurel was subjected to, but at the same time, she already lost Wes. Would the show be so cruel as to let her lose their baby, too, if it is his?
And if it is his and she does lose it, I sense that will have an impact on Laurel and Frank if she does decide to go back to him.
That Arrow scoop right there is why Felicity grates. She takes everyone and their mother to task when she’s kept out of the proverbial loop but she’s all front and center to keep Curtis’s significant other in the dark.
Not telling someone outside of the circle is different from those inside the circle. The people inside need to know.
Sure but she made all of those declarations about Oliver keeping his out of the blue son a secret from her, his would be wife/life partner but she has zero issue keeping Curtis’s husband/life partner in the dark. It’s hypocrisy at its finest. This isn’t some stranger on the outside. It’s a person Curtis has committed a life to and that husband should know his life is being risked on a daily basis. She can’t have it both ways.
She’s IN the circle, Curtis’s husband isn’t, so yes, he is someone on the outside.
Her talk was the husband’s and wives can’t have secrets. I guess that only applies when she’s involved.
She was both Oliver’s fiance AND on the team, and every character is hypocritical at some point, why are you singling her out as grating?
i’m sorry, but the ouat showrunners have got to be some of the worst in the business. “we just won’t get to it.” which is there answer every time a question related to continuity is asked. instead, they create more unnecessary drama, plot twist and ridiculous stories involving characters that should really just take a backseat already. you’d never guess they were part of Lost, given how messy their own show is.
I agree. I find myself rolling my eyes and can barely watch these days. This show has so much potential and keeps recycling tired, boring storylines and characters.
Dammit, I don’t want to start watching OUaT again, but I love Jaime Murray. :(
I’m not sure how a preg Laurel would fit on the show. Anyway my heart is still shattered from that HTGAWM finale…I’ve never dropped a show because of a character dying but in all honesty I have a feeling I cant go on without Wes on the show. I will try & keep up with the recaps though.
Why would Lucifer look for a ‘Sam Elliot type’…why not just cast him. He would be perfect to play God. On the other hand, the actress playing Lucifer’s mom was a total miscast. She’s not believable or entertaining in her role. Also, she lacks a demeanor of power and authority that divine beings ought to have.
I’m so fascinated by your feelings (and the feelings of some others I know) regarding HTGAWM. You (and others) have mentioned dropping the show because of Wes’s death. I mean, that’s a perfectly fine opinion to have and I would never criticize an opinion like that. I’m just fascinated by it, because the whole season of “who’s under the sheet,” the first person I said I’d be perfectly fine with being under the sheet is Wes. I was just so sick and tired of his character. He got under my skin and worked my nerves to no end. So much so that I’ll be VERY disappointed if the fan theory that he’s not actually dead is true. So yeah, I just think the vastly different opinions on one character is fascinating.
First season I hated Wes. I could not stand his devotion to Rebecca.. All the problems the group faced S1 were all to do with Rebecca and Wes’ inability to see right through her BS. Season 2 is when everything took a 180 for me, the way his character was developed and his connection with Annalise made me understand his actions & his ‘bleeding-heart’ nature. Even with all he went through as a child, he had such a good heart and had no selfish bone in him unlike most of the characters left on the show. He deserved a happy ending. My two fav characters have always been AK & Laurel from the get go but Wes ‘snuck’ in and took top spot and before I knew it I was rooting for him. I’d love for him to be alive but the likelihood of that is very slim.
As a fan of the character, you may want to at least finish this season since it was stated that he’ll still be part of the show as the flashbacks will show the hours leading to his death, of course leading up to who murdered him.
I have to say, I think some ramifications for Curtis’ marriage have been overdue. His husband must be the most patient man in the world!
Ouat is really irking with these dropped sorry lines. Maleficent and lily. The red queen from OUAT wonderland. Like stop
Lucifer — how funny would it be to cast Rob Benedict. Heheheh.
I miss Gilmore Girls too. All I watch on Netflix is that over and over. On round 4. Proud of it. I want more! But am extremely satisfied with the ending. I think that wedding sounds over the top. Happy with the way it was done.
If a question that is submitted to Ask Ausiello isn’t answered does it need to be resubmitted to be in the running or do the good unanswered questions carry over to the next Ask Ausiello?
im curious to see what Netflix/ASP decide to do with Gilmore Girls. I’m ALL for a revival of a beloved series but after the binge session is over I’m like WTF! Any news on additional episodes?(atleast while the Stars Hollow sets are still standing??)
I would love it if Sam Elliott played God Johnson! Be still my beating heart!
Wouldn’t Selena’s biography from Veep just flat out be ‘Breaking the Glass Door’?
So Care will interact a lot with Sybil. Good! I’m glad she might have a SL that’s separate from the boring wedding and wonder twins. Hope she brings out her vampire side! And I hope her and Bonnie interact more, miss them together!
If Megan Markle takes time out of Suits because of a ginger I wouldn’t be too happy. They have established such a strong bond between Mike and Rachel at this point and Rachel is finally coming into her own that it would be a sad direction to take the show in.
