음악 is always evolving. What’s ‘fresh’ today will feel ‘tired’ tomorrow. That’s why it’s important for musicians to keep uncovering new ways to express themselves.

Baltimore-based Danny Dosha is doing exactly that. After finding early success on the local hip-hop scene, Danny has grown as an artist. His latest single “Nautica,” delivers a sound that is best described as a genre crossover with plenty of hip-hop, rock and pop elements all added to the mix.

It was his mentor B. Stille, from the Grammy Nominated group Nappy Roots, who originally encouraged Danny to push himself from a songwriter into a full performer. The two collaborated on the song “Get uh Grip” and have played live at some of the same events, including Howard Theatre in Washington D.C.

I recently caught up with Danny Dosha to find out 더 많이 about his sound, inspiration and future.

Tell us about the inspiration behind your latest release “Nautica.”

Danny Dosha: The inspiration for "Nautica" comes from a lot of emotions, but mainly from the feeling of being an outsider and feeling like no one could understand your perspective.

You like to blend different genres of music, where did 당신 get the idea to do that?

DD: The idea for blending genres just comes from having an extensive history of different types of music. My father being from Trinidad and my mother from Jamaica I grew hearing island 음악 such as reggae and Soca. But also my family are 팬 of American jazz, blues, and hip hop. I always thought genre blending will be the future of music, that's why hip hop and EDM are so 인기 because of the variety of sounds that appeal to a broader audience.

Do 당신 write and play all of your own songs?

DD: Yes I write and play 기타 on every record. As for other instruments, no. I contact fellow musicians that may like the idea of a record and want to contribute to the musical landscape.

Who did 당신 bring in to assist 당신 with this song?

DD: With "Nautica" I brought in a fellow songwriter Ayvee who is the theme songwriter for reality TV show "Bad Girls Club"; also fellow musician Darwin Winston, who played saxophone and drums on the record.

In your experience, what have been the biggest challenges you’ve faced as a rising musician?

DD: The biggest challenges in 음악 have been staying in a specific sound for music. Since I have always been inspired 의해 different types of music, creatively I always stretch to have sounds that no has ever had. It has always been important to be different and stand out in craft, no matter what 당신 are involved in.

Any lessons 당신 can share with other aspiring musicians?

DD: Only lessons I can give other aspiring musicians is to stay consistent and never get distracted. As humans we kind find ourselves falling on and off route of our success because of distractions. Of 당신 discipline yourself to entirely work on your art, 당신 will always win.

Where do 당신 see yourself musically in 5 years from now?

DD: In 5 years, I see myself with a Billboards #1 hit record and my own indie record label!

Lastly, how can 팬 keep up with you?

DD: 팬 can keep up with me via Twitter: link

This is not a 사랑 song
Bye bye baby

I keep on waiting, anticipating
But I can't wait forever
You say 당신 사랑 me
You're thinking of me
But we're never together

Chorus:

Bye bye baby bye bye
It's your turn to cry
That's why we have to say goodbye
So say goodbye

Bye bye baby bye bye
It's your turn to cry
This time we have to say goodbye
So say goodbye

You had your chances
All your romances
And now I just don't want you
I know I 사랑 당신 because I hate you
And now I'd rather haunt you

(chorus, repeat)

You're so beautiful
What makes 당신 feel exciting?
What wakes 당신 up inside?
Does it make 당신 feel good to see me cry?
I...
