The original 출처 of the "MJ converts to Islam" claim, was an 기사 in “The Sun”, a UK tabloid, well-known for making up stories. The other newspapers used “The Sun” as their source, and merely repeated the story.

When Jermaine converted to Islam, there were rumors that MJ would possibly do the same. In 2008 the tabloid "The Sun" put out the rumor that Michael had become a Muslim during a ceremony at a “friend’s” house, after he had allegedly been convinced 의해 a “friend” to convert. Two of the people who were claimed 의해 the 기사 to have been there, have stated that it never happened. These “friends” are the "Nation of Islam", a political-religious organization. Jermaine got bodyguards from the Nation of 이슬람 to “protect” Michael from "certain" people.
