Being the American heavy metal band Megadeth’s eleventh studio album, United Abominations was released on May 15, 2007. It was another kick start for Megadeth’s career, another great achievement since the album Rust In Peace released in 1990. Megadeth’s vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, and frontman Dave Mustaine is the band’s only continuous member since Megadeth’s birth in 1983.
United Abominations was named the number one metal album of 2007 의해 Guitarworld. After its release in the United States it had sold nearly 60,000 copies in the first week and debuted at number eight on the Billboard 200, ten places higher than the band's 이전 album, The System Has Failed in 2004. But because United Abominations is the band’s most politically charged album, (says Thompson) Megadeth also had some critics like Mark Leon Goldberg, suggesting that the lyrics weren’t accurate about the government and aren’t quite respectful. Goldberg reviewed the song verse 의해 verse, pointing out what he believed were false accusations.
Obviously none of that prevented Megadeth from speaking out though, nor did it concern them much. Mustaine has never been too shy about injecting his belief system into his music. He has never backed away from voicing his opinion about politics and the state our world is in. The evidence shows in specific tracks such as, “Washington Is Next”, “Gears of War”, “Amerikhastan”, and the 제목 track, “United Abominations.” All in all, musically, Megadeth was never afraid to state the things they have, and sure enough it lead them to a career of success.
