She missed him. That's all there was to it. It was nothing 더 많이 than a 로스트 want for a friend she had grown to dear to. A friend a whole 년 older than her, black hair and dark eyes stunning like his attitude towards life when it came to crimes. Lawliet Ryuzaki. Ryuzaki. L...
He had left Wammy's House after he had learned everything he had needed to know. He had said goodbye to the people closest to him, including her. They had stood there, and she, just a 년 younger than him, had held tight, and whispered against his neck how lucky he was to leave this place. She herself hated it there, and when she had finally pulled away, embarrassed at how long they had been talking in each-other's arms, he nodded to her softly, then left, saying nothing else, and not even turning back as he had walked out the door, the others holding Mello back as he had tried to run up to him one last time and hug him goodbye.
In the weeks that followed, she grew used to not seeing him around, talking to him everyday, but she didn't like it. She walked around the halls with no purpose, and when school was in, the weeks after he had left, she couldn't concentrate. She couldn't keep her head strait with all her thinking of him, she had made her first 프렌즈 here, and of course he was the one that had made most of the impact on her life. She would lay in 침대 sometimes and just stare at the ceiling, thinking of all the good times they had shared, whatever few. And a certain moment, holding him as he said goodbye always came to her mind.
Just two months after he had left, she had made plans. She had made her plans to run away. She hated it there so much, and even though Mello was her friend, and she loved him like a friend would, she just couldn't be there any longer. She didn't feel like trying, and her grades were obviously slipping, nearly cutting out any judgment on a “special child”. Though they knew she was his friend, and she had also loved him as a friend would, it had been to long to mourn over him, for nothing had happened and he wasn't dead 또는 crippled. They knew she would see him again, and the fact that she hadn't let that fact in yet also proved that she didn't belong in Wammy's House.
A week after starting her plans, she took action. Telling no one, not even Mello 또는 Matt, she slipped from Wammy's House during one of the classes, and, due to quick thinking, made it out without any alarms sounding. From there, she followed any rails she could, thinking of where he might be, and how she could get to him. She found no signals that lead to anything but dirt and 로스트 hope. So she took to the streets, and the Wammy's House people never came for her. She just continued to live out there, her constant 검색 for her friend becoming dead in her mind as she continued wherever the wind, and her mind, took her.
Finally, she saw an add in the paper. It was a “Missing Person” under the name of “Wren Black” and her picture and description, as well as a place to take her once found. She didn't know what to do about that. That was just her Wammy's name, well, her REAL last name, which was actually two words put together, Wren Black. It was an odd last name, for the two words. Her mother and father had both kept they're regular last names when married, and called themselves the Wren Black's, they're family breeding black wren birds for a long time after that, before she was born. But Wren Black was not her real name. Besides, she liked her real name.
She had been due to graduate from Wammy's as a letter in a 년 and a half, but she didn't want to live there anymore. The letter she was supposed to be, was W. This would have caused confusion, due to Watari as W, but until Watari died, she would be known as Wren than a letter. But her real name, she liked it very much. She loved her real name. Her name that her parents had given to her before they were shot and killed. The name they and God gave her: Windigo Wren Black, Wren taking her middle name and Black being her last....
Windigo was tired and worn that day. She hadn't made any money in a long time, meaning finding 음식 on the streets of this small area was nearly impossible. Her raven black hair fell over her eyes, and she knew what she had to do. Her stomach growled loudly as she stumbled to the back roads, finding half eaten french fries and parts of over foods to eat. She heard a train go 의해 close by, the whistle sounding and making her head ring as she fell to the ground, still needing something to eat.
Why did I leave?
She asked, a lone tear trailing down her face as she noticed how thin she had become, realizing she may die out in this area, her body to be found and sent back to Wammy's once named. At least she didn't have to go back until she was dead. She noticed how much she really did hate the place, because she wasn't supposed to be there. Her parents weren't supposed to be dead. None of this was supposed to happen. Windigo lay her head down, her body slouching. Knowing she was already close to death, she prayed to herself silently, hoping that she was about to see her parents, blackness was taking over her sight. The last thing she remembered was hearing voices softly, like they were at the back of her mind.
'Hey! I found a girl!'
'Really? Is she okay?'
'She needs to get 음식 and water. Call a hospital!!'
One voice sounded louder than the others, and reminded her greatly of her 로스트 friend which she had entered this dark world for.
'I know that girl..Wren.'

"Hello?" Watari said into the phone in the hotel room. "Yes, this is Watari. Ah, I see. I understand.
Goodbye."
"Who was that, Watari?" 엘 mumbled inbetween bites of his cookie. "That was just an old friend back at Wammy's, calling to say they want 당신 to meet Near."
엘 paused for a moment to think, he had never thought of actually meeting his successor.
"Why do they want me to meet Near?" 엘 said, somewhat nervously. "They say, Near demanded it." Watari replied. 엘 thought, he must be stubborn, just like me. "When do they want me to come to meet him?" 엘 said. "Whenever 당신 think 당신 want to."
"Let's go tomorrow then, shall we?"
