Marlene cried out in pain. It'd been an 시간 since it began. He struck her again with the whip. Another cry of agony escaped her lips. Killer raised the whip again, but Blowhole entered and stopped him before he whipped her again. Marlene held back tears. She wouldn't dare let him see her cry. Not over her dead body. Blowhole walked around her...grinning like a madman. "Good work Killer. But unfortunately it's time we released her." He told him. He unlocked the chains on Marlene's wrists, causing her to fall to her knees. She rubbed her wrists, which were sore and bleeding from the edges of the cuffs. A cloth bag was placed over her head and someone grabbed her 의해 the arms and hoisted her to her feet.

She was led down a long hallway and into an elevator. She heard 6 pings as they made their descent. Once they got outside, the bag was ripped from her head and she was thrown to the ground. She got to her feet and looked around; she could see New York to her left, Coney Island--an amusement park--to her right. The building she'd been in this entire time was pretty isolated from other buildings. "Don't fail me Marlene. Remember whose life is at stake. And remember something else...I can hear every word said in that apartment...so don't try anything stupid." Blowhole told her, then he went back inside the building.

--------------------------------------------------------

Marlene approached the penguins' apartment. She knocked slowly. Kowalski answered, and stared at her in shock and concern. "Oh my GOD!" He exclaimed. Marlene was so tired and hungry, and she felt faint. She fell into Kowalski's arms. As she was carried in 의해 the three of them, she began feeling short of breath. She couldn't stay awake much longer. She passed out as she was laid on the couch.

--------------------------------------------------------

She woke up slowly, her body aching. She heard Private's voice. "Hey! She's waking up!" She opened her eyes, her vision blurred. She brought up her hands to rub her eyes, then realized they were bandaged at the wrists. She assumed the team tended to her wounds while she was out. Wait...how long had she been out? The sun was setting outside. She had no idea what time it was. Finally her vision cleared, but her body ached all over. She tried to sit up, but cringed as a sharp pain coursed through her back. It was as if she could feel the whip snapping at her back again. She lay still...breathing slowly and evenly...trying not to move. "Are 당신 okay Marlene?" Kowalski asked. He hadn't seen the marks on her back. "Yeah I'm fine Kowalski...just a little sore...what happened?" Marlene said softly. She wasn't fine. She was in pain. She finally got herself to sit upright. Kowalski touched her forehead. "Marlene...what happened to you?" Marlene hated what she had to do...she didn't like lying to her friends...but she knew she had to keep Skipper alive long enough for her plan to work. She leaned back slowly into the couch. She spoke softly...you could tell she was exhausted. "Blowhole captured me, after I left the building. He said he was getting revenge on me for foiling his plans. I managed to escape." Marlene lied.

"Marlene, do 당신 remember where 당신 were tied up?" Kowalski asked.

"Yeah...It's a pretty isolated building...not too far from Coney Island." Marlene answered.

"What all did he say to you?" Private asked.

"He just said he was getting back at me for ruining his plan and he tortured me."

"What did he do to you?" Kowalski asked.

"I...I don't wanna talk about it..." Marlene answered. She didn't like thinking about it. It was bad enough she was hurting all over to remind her.

"Can 당신 describe what we'll be up against once inside?" Marlene didn't know what to say. The only place she saw inside the building was the torture chamber. She thought up a lie quick. "I can't remember. I was in a rush to get out...and my memory's a little fuzzy."

"Marlene...we need to go to that building. We have to save Skipper. Will 당신 be fine 의해 yourself?" Kowalski explained.

"Yeah...I'll be fine..." Marlene assured him. "Save Skipper okay?"

"We will. Don't answer the door for anyone except us okay?"

"Okay." The team grabbed their gear and left, locking the door behind them.

------------------------------------------------------

They pulled up 다음 to the building Marlene described. "What are we gonna do now?" Private asked no one in particular. It was Kowalski who answered. "I don't know. We don't know what we're gonna be up against once inside." He got off his motorcycle and turned toward the others. "Whatever happens in there, it's been an honor serving with you." Private leaped up and hugged him. "I'm scared Kowalski...I don't wanna die..." He said. Rico joined the embrace. "I know Private. Neither do we. But remember we're doing this for Skipper." Kowalski said. They separated, and walked toward the building.

At the door there was a camera, a speaker 다음 to it. A voice came through the speaker, obviously Dr. Blowhole's. "Hello. I see you've found me. Congratulations. Empty your pockets." The three of them unarmed themselves and placed the weapons on the ground. "Very good. I take it you'll come nicely now." Blowhole and three guards came out of the door and placed bags over their heads and bound their hands behind their backs. Then they led them inside, then were taken to an elevator and taken up to a higher floor. Counting the pings on their ascent, they were taken to the sixth floor.

They were taken to a room, sat down, and tied to chairs, the bags taken off of their heads. They looked around...the first thing they noticed was the man across the room, tied to a chair, a bag over his head. Blowhole was standing right 다음 to him with a twisted smile on his face. They didn't need to ask who the man was.

Blowhole ripped the bag from Skipper's head. Skipper saw his team, and looked at Blowhole. "Let them go! It's me 당신 want! Leave my men out of this!"

"That is where 당신 are wrong Skipper. Without them my revenge wouldn't be complete. Blowhole laughed. Private began thrashing in his seat. "Let him go! Let him go 당신 bloody piece of-"

"Private!" Kowalski cut him off before he said such a word. Blowhole laughed even harder. "Oh sweet revenge." He started walking around Skipper, not taking his eyes off of him. "Oh isn't this a tragic 일 for you. The 일 당신 finally meet your doom."

"We're gonna stop you. Just like the last gazillion times." Skipper said. Blowhole laughed. "You're so naive Skipper. 당신 think you're so invincible. Good can't win forever. There is no way you're getting out of this one. It's time you've admitted defeat." Blowhole was still walking around Skipper, slowly and evenly placing his steps. Then he abruptly stopped behind Skipper and pulled out a gun...pointing it straight at the back of Skipper's head.

"It's a sad sad 일 for New York. To believe 당신 all came here, right into my trap..."

"Skipper!" Private screamed...just as Blowhole tightened his grip on the trigger.

It was a brisk Friday afternoon in October.
Kitka Falcón trudged up the stairs to her new apartment, lugging her suitcase behind her. She was eager to see if there was anyone whom she might enjoy conversation with.
Kitka brushed her golden blonde hair out of her abnormally sharp eyes as she reached her new home. She got out the key and opened the door, dumping her luggage right inside and sitting down across from it, exhausted from the long hike up the stairs. She really did want to meet some people, but first she desperately needed some rest. She took of her shoes and...

I actually hate this chapter, but oh well. Here it is.

“If 당신 want some girl time, Marlene Oder lives in the apartment just down the hall, Carlotta Perky’s on the 초 story, Shelly Astaire’s across the hall from us, and I guess if it comes down to it—”
“Hi, Kowalski,” someone said behind them.
“—there’s always her,” Kowalski finished, turning around with Kitka.
Behind them stood a young woman wearing a faded denim jacket,...

I have so little left now. So few things to hold dear, so little to call my own. Few happy memories. I am unsure of anything. Who I am, where I stand, where i belong. Will i be forced to scrape together a meager existence, 또는 shall I follow his lead, 가입하기 his cause and ruin everything?

Poignant. I can hear a song playing faintly somewhere. It's a haunting melody, soft and melancholy, much like my frame of mind. It was a chilly November day. It was nearly two decades ago, thought I can still recall every detail of that 일 as plainly as though it were yesterday.

I can remember what clothes I...

It all seemed to happen in a second. The alarms blazed, Blowhole jumped in shock, the bullet erupted from his gun, hitting the wall. He ordered the guards in the room to go see what was going on, Blowhole waited 의해 the door. They waited; it didn’t take too long for the alarms to seize. Blowhole assumed the situation was under control. He walked back over to Skipper, stopped in front of him, and leaned down, inches from his face. “Now where were we?” He asked grinning.

“I was about to kick your butt.”

    “Oh really?...

I didn't walk into this to write some overly dramatic cliche " It was a dark and stormy night...." crap. This is serious business, here, and I'm not too sure I'm keen on sharing it.
I'm not sure what to feel anymore, but I can tell 당신 one thing: Scars run deep. That's a given in this game. It's do 또는 die, and I don't want to do either. Knowledge carries a high price, I've learned. Too much can be dangerous. Too little makes 당신 expendable. In the game of Life, I'm sure we're all in agreement here, there should be cheat codes.

About a 년 ago, I moved to New York City and tried to change,...
