*SPOILERS FOR 'UNFAITHFUL'
This is just a short little theory from my stupid brain.
As we saw in 'Unfaithful', House and Cuddy are still stuck on the pause (or some would argue, rewind) button in the relationship, whereas Foreman and Thirteen are well on track with their relationship.
Before I saw 'Unfaithful', I had developed a simple little theory about House's attitude towards Foreteen, and after seeing 'Unfaithful', I am convinced that my theory is plausible.
I think House is projecting his ambivalence towards a relationship with Cuddy onto the Foreteen relationship.
In episodes prior to 'Unfaithful', House had been supportive of Foreteen. He gave Foreman heartfelt 조언 about what to do in the drug trial, including the "except if 당신 사랑 her..." speech. He helped Foreman treat Thirteen and kept the problem to himself when Kutner pressured him. He also stopped Thirteen from letting Foreman turn himself in. He wanted their relationship to work.
Personally, I think House is projecting. That is, he is sure that a workplace relationship won't work out, especially if one of the couple is a superior to the other. So, Foreman and Thirteen are an example of that kind of relationship. Foreman is a superior to Thirteen, just as Cuddy is a superior to House.
He also thinks that Foreman and Thirteen can't be together and be doctors because of Foreman's actions in the drug trial, but really he has no problem with Foreman breaking the rules like that. What Foreman showed House is that he was willing to break the rules and do something stupid for a woman that he loved. Yet House was hoping that Foreman wouldn't because it would prove that Foreman didn't value the relationship over his career, which would prove to House that he shouldn't choose Cuddy over his current misanthropic lifestyle. And, since House thinks that Foreman is very much like him, he thought that Foreman's actions would be a guide for his own actions.
Thus, when Foreman did the opposite of what House had hoped he would do, House decided to sabotage Foreteen, which is symbolically sabotaging Huddy. House says that either Foreman 또는 Thirteen has to go 또는 they have to 스플릿, 분할 up, to show that two doctors can't be together, that they have to choose medicine over love. When House thinks that he has achieved this, he is thrilled! He thinks he has proven himself right. Because if Foreteen (the Huddy foil) can't make it as a couple, then there is no way House and Cuddy will.
Of course, we find out that Foreteen are actually fine, and they have been fooling House. They are still together and they still have their jobs, even if they are currently putting on a show for House.
And so, House decides not to 옮기기 foreward with Cuddy. He decides not to go to Rachel's baby naming ceremony and House and Cuddy take another step backwards, because House thinks that that is the way that it is supposed to be. However, Foreman and Thirteen have actually demonstrated that House and Cuddy could have a relationship. In fact, House has proven his own theory wrong.
Will this prove to him that he can have a real relationship with Cuddy? Who knows! Certainly not me, but I'm sure we will find out soon enough...
