I thought it was a great episode! I was curious to see how they'd handle the SL but a bit worried at the same time, I mean, the past few episodes have been great so far and this is nothing like anything they've done before. But, yeah, I thought it was great!

really nice, the first part wasn't that good, but the ending was really good. I cried when Marshall's dad said that he loves him.

I thought it was a really good episode. Robin as the drug dealer was pretty funny and there were some other funny parts as well, but the best was the end. I totally lost it when Marshall heard his dad tell him that he loved him and everyone was crying... And OMG! Barney is going to meet his father! I'm so excited to see the next episode!!!

^ ^ Agreed! The final was the best part of the episode, when everyone is crying with Marvin's message (even Barney!!) and all of them call their dads.

kudos to HIMYM for doing such a solid follow up. i mean really after the last one HOW ON EARTH WOULD YOU BEAT THAT? and there are always such high expectations after such a legendary episode. i think they did a tremendous job at keeping it real, emotional and funny. and yep...cried like a baby!

sidenote: LOVE the fact that they are focusing on the friendship between the gang again- so touching the way everyone tried to be there for marshall.

sidenote b: did anyone else think that after marshall said "my dad was my best friend" they would have ted be all "BUT I THOUGHT I.." and then maybe realize that wasnt the thing to say? barney style? it just seemed like that should be adressed, like thats the punchline every time someone says "blabla is my best friend" no? just me?

I was worried this episode wouldn't have any jokes, since it was such a depressing story line, but somehow this episode made me laugh and cry, which is what a good episode should do.

The only thing that I liked about this episode is Robin and her bag:)

Made up my mind after a second watch now. I loved how the gang tried to help Marshall. I really liked that Robin could help him so much with her Mary Poppins bag. They have a weird friendship and after the Mermaid Theory 'date' it was real fun to watch.
They really hit it not being too funny. A little bit disappointed in Danny Strong's appearance though. For some reason I expected more... I should've stayed spoiler free, huh?

i am guessing thats the minister? is he known? should i google him?
i thought that was a terribly superfluous storyline..the asshole minister.not funny.had he been weird or confused like randy but this made no sense and wasnt funny. i kinda ignored him
