Book wise, they did a pretty good job covering Dumbledore's story. Most of the details we don't know about are minor, and I don't really care about them.

Movie wise, they did almost nothing to cover his back-story. I still don't think it's necessary, though, but I can see why they'd make a movie.

I'm more interested about The Scottish Book. Although a story about Harry, Hermione and Ron after Hogwarts (AFTER DH, BEFORE 19 YEARS LATER) would be awesome!! And besides, we know much about Dumbledore through the life and lies of albus dumbledore.
