He's just much more serious, and as the books go on, so do the movies too. Both of them are really getting more for adults and teenagers then for little kids... 	alexajaye picked Michael Gambon: I don't really care what anyone else says. God love him, but Richard Harris couldn't have done what Michael Gambon has done with Dumbledore. In the first two movies, Dumbledore was an old man to me, albeit a rather powerful and eccentric old man, but nonetheless. In the last four, Dumbledore has become who I read in the books, and Michael Gambon has done that. He's given Dumbledore a resonance that wasn't there in the first two, even though I do love Richard Harris for establishing the character on screen. For me, it's Michael Gambon all the way, and when the scene for that picture came up in the movie, Dumbledore was bad ass!! posted over a year ago.

Harris needed to be a bit more powerful-looking, imposing. But Gambon needed to tone it down and be more subdued and not all crotchety. posted over a year ago.

	michael_oboyle picked Michael Gambon: michael gambon is a far more captivating actor to watch than harris. In the book it says that although dumbledore was very old it seemed that he was full of energy. Harris seems very frail (I know he was ill when filming) and didnt show this characteristic in the films. I feel that Michael Gambons connection with harry in the third and fourth werent as close, as say harris portrayal in the first two, however I feel as the films developed the bond became more apparent. The battle scene in the ministry of magic, in the fifth book, really blew me away it was done to perfection and really showed dumbledores ability. posted over a year ago.
