I've been really disappointed by RB's people. It was too rough, and there's some scene i would like to see more developped.
Scarlett is realy good, although the scenes in Ireland are sometimes weird. Scarlett is what she always was, determined to have what she want and brave .
Of course, margaret Mitchell's book is still better than this two ^^

most of my friends say that Rhett Butler's people isn't good, so I haven't read it or seen, but I like the book Scarlett, and the movie is okay, although I don't understand why they made court scenes and so on.. There was no such moments in the book..
And I really love actors who play in Scarlett, I just don't know why.. :)

i don't know if the mini serie is good, but i would love to see it . Especially to see was dalton worth as Rhett . ( I would he wouldn't supplant Clark Gable, but i heard he was pretty good)

i like him in Jane Eyre, i think he's good in classics!

Dalton was okay IMO, but no Clark Gable. I really didn't like Joanne Whalley for some reason. She just wasn't convincing as Scarlett to me.

Absolutely, you should see it to make your own opinion. =) Who knows, you may actually like the mini-series. I did like the ending, I'll say that much.

It's not that I totally dislike Scarlett, I just really believe that Margaret Mitchell wrote a great book that should be left alone. Not everything should be built on. Sometimes there is just something so good, it should be left to stand alone as a classic. I believe the same with some songs as well. JMO, I don't think that it is horrid or anything.

yeah, i understand what you mean .
But if you take the book alone, without considering it as a sequel of MM's book, what do you think of them?

VictoriNoRisuu picked I've just read one of them:
Haven't read RBP yet, but for me personally "Scarlett" sucked. What happend to the main character? There was no pride in her, no contentiousness, no need of independance. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to accept the main female character of this book as Scarlet O'Hara that I knew. Plus this book so terribly lacked the historical background so wonderfully shown in GWTW it literally hurt me. Also no depth of minor characters - I had a feeling the author took the plot to Irland just to get rid of all minor characters from GWTW she had to "deal with" if Scarlett had stayed in USA. She just couldn't make the vanish, doesn't she?

Generally I had I feeling I read a cheap Harlequin rather then something connected with GWTW. Such an epic novel should be left alone. Any continuance may just ruin it.

Sorry if I sound harsh - but that's how I feel about "Scarlett".

i understand what you feel . There's some points in Scarlett that disappointed me too .
But i've read it after RBP, and this one really really sucked to me. taht's why i was quite satisfied of Scarlett .

of course, her personnality change a lot ( the part in ireland was the most incomprehensible for me ). But it was petter than the other, trust me . Because in RBP, the first half of the book tells the same story than in GWTW, but so many things missed, it looks more like a summary than a point of view of a different character .

I think Scarlett was true the characters. I loved the change of scenery. Of course it is no Gone With The Wind, but it still kept Scarlett and Rhett alive for me a little while longer. I loved that they had another child.
