Season 6 Casting Update! 

While we wait for HBO to get around to dropping that season 6 trailer we’re all gagging for, here’s some more

Mark Tankersley will be playing a general in the upcoming season. According to his agency’s website, the actor has had “two months of filming General Bolton on Game of Thrones – Season Six.”

It makes sense the Boltons would need a general, given this season’s story and the spoilers coming out of Saintfield, Northern Ireland filming last fall.

Annette Tierney will be appearing in at least two season 6 episodes. The actress’s agency CV currently includes credits for 

Season 6, for an undisclosed character. Her directors are listed as Jack Bender and Jeremy Podeswa. Podeswa is helming the first and second episodes this year, and Bender the fifth and sixth.

As for her role, we can speculate a bit. For season 6, the show was casting for a “Housemaid” for 2 episodes, a small role that our sources informed a few months back was actually the part of (Not-So) Old Nan in Winterfell flashback visions. This actress is the right age range, and she appears to be in more than one episode. Nothing is confirmed yet, however, so this will remain speculation for the moment.

Another casting from an Irish agency has surfaced: the CV of actor Jed Murray lists him as appearing in season 6, but does not confirm his specific role. Based on a news item from the agency’s site, it looks like the actor did some filming in December.

Chuku Modu‘s Spotlight CV has been updated to confirm his character name will be “Ahko.”The actor filmed with the rest of the Dothraki-portraying cast members for season 6, and this role name seems to further confirm his part. There was a Dothraki warrior named “Akrat” on the second major casting list we shared; perhaps this is a slightly modified version of that character name.

Well that’s on you. Major casting/leads pretty much always have the character name or actor name in the post title.

Airing the trailer with Girls doesn’t make much sense tbh. Girls and GOT are too different. Not that Vinyl and GOT are hugely similar either. But they’re at least hour long ramas.

A very reasonable prediction. I don’t know if that’s how they’ll do it but I doubt it will be a surprise trailer so we’ll know soon enough.

The point to attaching the trailer to a show is to draw viewers to it. Vinyl has quite a bit of hype to it already, whereas Girls significantly less, IMO. If people know the highly anticipated season 6 trailer will be debuting right after the Girls premiere, I’d bet a lot more people would be glued to HBO to watch a show they otherwise wouldn’t give a chance to.

Even if he’s named, I don’t think his role will be any larger… not that it’s much larger in the books, in terms of actions —there’s lots of inside narration, but that’s not really very translatable. The only thing he has actually done so far is call for a kingsmoot, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this action is taken by a more prominent character in the show, such as Theon or Yara.

I hope we get a trailer in seven days. At least 02-15. If we have to wait more than a week i ll get crazy.

Im a big fan of harry potter too and i already have a trailer of the next movie since December of last year, and the movie will be in the theaters just november this year, and a movie has just 2h of screentime and we already have a trailer.

To the first point, there is several reasons why somebody might know something and not tell. EW, TV Line, and I assume this site get told things all the time, on the condition that it is embargoed until a certain date, or the episode airs, so its entirely possible that this casting could have fallen under this case, especially since Euron’s casting was supposed to be kept secret, and a lot of casting revealed generally is done so with second hand sources, possibly to absolve the revealing source of the original responsibility and blowback from the leak.

Second, I care going off of book speculation somewhere between the range of Shireen Dies and R+L=J that the Damphair will do something awesome, like throw a Kraken at something. The fact that the casting report specifically went out of the way to mention Damphair, and not some random Drown Priest, of which, yes, anyone could fulfill the role you described, lead me to believe that since Victarion was cut or merged, but Damphair kept, he actually will do something awesome that will generate viewers to merit his specific inclusion at all.

I suspect if there wasn’t the Superbowl we would have gotten one last night.

I’m not sure why they would put the trailer with Girls instead of Vinyl.

I’m glad that some of the agencies are starting to update CVs for their clients. These little pieces of information always help to bridge the gap until HBO starts to release promotional material in earnest. Every bit, no matter how small, helps us form a better picture of the season to come!

Annette Tierney being the young version of Old Nan makes a lot of sense, especially if she’s appearing in a Jeremy Podeswa episode. It’s a fair assumption that she would appear in the flashback featuring young Hodor, and that flashback will probably be one of Bran’s first visions that we see.

I’ll take a guess and say that Jed Murray may be playing a Thenn. Granted, I’m basing that on absolutely nothing other than the fact that the actor is bald.

As for the trailer … I’ve made my peace with the idea that it won’t run on HBO until February 14, immediately before or after the premiere of Vinyl. Of course, I remain hopeful that it will be released online a few days before that. But I’ll be OK it doesn’t, especially now that we’re less than a week away from that entirely reasonable target date. That being said, if next Sunday passes and we

don’t have anything, alarm bells may start going off in my head.

That’s probably just poor wording on the part of the agency. He’s almost certainly playing a nameless general in the Bolton army, much like the “Baratheon general” that we saw alongside Stannis last year. Unless Roose has a long-lost cousin that we don’t know about …

I don’t think so. Girls is in its 5th season and they already announced that season 6 will be the last. They are not going to expect people to jump into the next to last season of a show. Its ratings are its ratings at this point.

Girls is going into its 5th Season and it is ending next year. Debuting the most anticipated trailer of all time with it instead of its brand new show Vinyl would be bizarre.

Interesting that the “Old Nan” character is in multiple episodes. We knew about the one flashback with the kids, relating to Hodor, which I’d been thinking would be kind of a “starter” vision for Bran, but if we’re getting multiple episodes set around that period it seems like it’d be a bit more than that.

Maisie was actually asked about that recently (at the SAGs, I think?) and said that she didn’t know when/whether Joe would be back, and talked about having seen him at a party at Hannah Murray’s house recently (

Totally agree with you but I feel like it’s more of a timing issue rather than a “which show would be best to put this with” issue. I think February 21st just makes more sense in the grand scheme of things. I could see getting a little teaser this weekend and then an announcement that we’ll get a full trailer sometime next week. I saw the queen of nothing, millionth of her name teaser last night on HBO and I was giddy.

Hoping for news on this soon too. So excited for the new Feast/Dance characters. Damphair, Euron, Arnolf Karstark, Randyl Tarly, Wyman Manderly to name a few. Only Randyl, I actually espected to see at some point. Added with High Sparrow, The Waif, Wun Wun, Hizdahr Zo Loraq and Doran Martell, they’re really giving us some great characters from those books. All that’s missing is Septon Meribald, and he might be in it too. I guess I like Mors Umber as well, but I predict SmallJon will have some of his character traits.

Stoked for Young Nan! Excited for Hodor’s potential origin story- but why would young Nan appear in four eps? Unless we are getting some really interesting character developments thus far unknown…. (And scarcely speculated). Will Nan be involved in lyannas story? Will we get some clues as to who is Hodor’s father?

Well, I had my bet on the trailer appearing during the Super Bowl, so I’m already out. But, on the plus side, at least I was correct on defense beating offense. Defense always wins, lady and gentlemen. Bet on defense.

In other news…I have a theory! Not a “wild crazy” theory but one that I legitimately believe will happen. So, check it out. Here’s what I’m thinking. You guys remember in episode 1 where Ned beheads the Night’s Watch guy? And before he beheads him he does the, “I, Eddard of the House Stark, Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North, sentence you to die.” I’m thinking we’re going to get a replay of that same scene except Sansa will be in the role of Ned (i.e. “I, Sansa of the House Stark, Lady of Winterfell and Wardeness of the North, sentence you [Ramsay] to die.”) Matter of fact, I’m even willing to bet that she’ll swing the sword herself (because it would be very un-Stark-like for her to NOT do it. After all, “The man who passes the sentence should swing the sword,”).

And I’m thinking these thing will happen because of the filming spoilers and Sophie Turner’s SAG interview. That scene involving the rehearsal between 4 characters (that we generally believe will happen in episode 10) can fit very well into this scenario, especially if it’s an execution scene and not a “negotiation” scene. Furthermore, I think Sophie’s talk about finally getting respect and her revenge (although, for the record, she did NOT explicitly say ‘revenge’, I’m just inferring that that’s what she would have said had she not stopped herself) is more likely to happen if Sansa is in a position of authority. If she’s the “Wardeness of the North” she would have both the authority (respect) and obligation to execute justice (or revenge, depending on how you want to look at it). I think sentencing him to death, and then doing it herself, puts the filming and interview pieces together in a way that makes sense (at least to me…right now…until we get evidence to the contrary). So, yeah. I’m thinking things are going to go down this way. Yay or nay?

You know, I had factored in the fact that the woman has no weapon’s training, but then I thought that if she did it with Longclaw or Brienne gives her back Ice (well…the reforged version of Ice), it wouldn’t be heavy to lift. VS is supposed to be lighter than regular steel. Also, the girl’s not handy with weapons, I’ll adamantly concede that point, but neither is she Sweet Robin. 😉 I mean, the girl’s not feeble. I’m sure rage and vengeance will give her all the adrenaline she needs to swing that bad boy. 😉

Logic would dictate that someone else swing the sword (for the reasons you alluded too), but I don’t know. It just doesn’t feel ‘right’ to me that she would pass the sentence and NOT swing the sword. That would be so anti-Stark (and totally kill the parallel to Ned). What if she runs him through with a sword? More plausible? I’m sure even Sansa can manage that.

Really hope the trailer is this Sunday and no later. I’m going insane waiting. Glad these articles and comments are here to keep me entertained.
