 Plugging away at our laptops
Plugging away at our laptops
It was just about one 년 이전 that link and I were having our regular lunch meetups downtown in the Financial District of San Francisco. Years 이전 we shared a cube in Santa Clara at Yahoo! where we first met. Now we were being reunited just a few blocks away from one another and having lunch like old times. We decided to pay a visit to our 가장 좋아하는 hole in the wall, the International 음식 Court on the corner of 부시, 부시 대통령은 and Kearny Streets. Most people would never have spotted this joint and even if they had they would pick up their pace and keep on walking. Being the adventurous (and cheap) guys...

I am 글쓰기 this 기사 in appreciation to the hard working guys of Fanpop. 당신 have always been helpful, kind and caring. This website is truly a wonderful commUNITY of great 팬 all over the world. I can't thank 당신 guys enough for everthing you've done. 팬팝 is a wonderful site and I am addicted for life. I enjoy adding content everyday to your site. I am sorry that there has been so much negativity lately. Thanks for listening to all our problems and taking care of them. 당신 guys at 팬팝 are something special. I hope 당신 are sucessful in your future endeavors. Have a great birthday. 당신 guys rock! Thank 당신 for being you.
 I 심장 pick additions! Truly!
I heart pick additions! Truly!
Just out of curiousity, how do people feel when they've created a pick, find pictures, spell- and grammar-proof the question, finally send it out to the world -- and two weeks later discover new choices that r ovrwhielminley mispeled, say "all of the above" 또는 "none of the above", 또는 are green numbers among all of the pretty pictures?

Well, 당신 can read between the lines for my opinion. But I don't know whether this is a personal irritant 또는 whether many 더 많이 besides me feel this way.

Of course, there is a time and place for everything. Crazy_chica added a "None of the above" option to my link...

Okay everybody on 팬팝 is a 팬 of something, 당신 have to be, But what is a true fan? Well, I'll tell you.
According to Webster's Dictionary, a 팬 is
A:
Function:    noun
Etymology:    probably short for fanatic
1 : an enthusiastic devotee (as of a sport 또는 a performing art) usually as a spectator
2 : an ardent admirer 또는 enthusiast (as of a celebrity 또는 a pursuit) <science-fiction fans>

This is a great definition of a 팬 of a baseball team 또는 a specific person, such as the Yankees 또는 Brad Pitt. But is that really what the 팬 on 팬팝 are? No....

I was never intending to do a follow-up 기사 on fanpop-addiction. I just took it for granted that I had grown happily addicted and I would remain that way. I basked in the warm, happy glow that only recognition for fanpop-contribution can give you, and looked 앞으로 to the fanpopping years ahead.

But then disaster struck. And I'm not talking about the massive floods that have hit England... (I was fine with the cellar being filled with water...)No, my internet broke and left me without fanpop.

So now, my 초 list. The list of what happens when a fanpop-addict is forced to quit.

1. When...

Ok, I usually don't make user guides but this one needs to be made. I have seen a lot of picks and a lot of them are boring 또는 annoying. Here is a list of steps to help 당신 out.

1. Try to have 더 많이 than three 답변 if possible. If the 질문 is "Who should Jim be with?" Put, Karen and Pam, and then put an answer like neither 또는 Katy.

2.Always have pictures for the 질문 if it isn't a yes, no, 또는 maybe question. Pictures bring in 더 많이 팬 and make the picks 더 많이 interesting.

3. Try to ask 질문 that people haven't already asked and 질문 that people will be interested in. Don't make it boring.

Now these are the three golden steps to making a good, quality pick on fanpop. If 당신 feel I need to add anything, then please leave it in the comments.
I want to start 의해 saying that I think it is absolutely brilliant. I visit several times a 일 and there is always something new to see. In my eyes that is the beauty of it right?

I 사랑 that although its is a somewhat controlled environment (which is a good thing) we are pretty much able to voice our opinion on what we like and what we don't like.

I joined 팬팝 because I 사랑 to share videos, photos, 기사 and pretty much anything else that has to do with a common interest. I will confess that I am a major 팬 of the office. I 사랑 to share any bit of office news with people who will appreciate...

Nobody likes it when others ruin their fun 의해 telling them the end of the story. Some people just aren't as caught up with others because they're busy 또는 haven't gotten around to it. Whether it's your 가장 좋아하는 TV show and you're a few episodes behind 또는 a book that 당신 haven't read yet, the last thing 당신 want is for someone to tell 당신 what happens. Spoilers can ruin the fun for everyone else and the last thing we want to do is take the fun out of your 가장 좋아하는 stuff.

A lot of users were unhappy when 팬 were making picks that were spoilers during the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly...

Alright, so this is sort of in conjunction with a lot of other soapbox articles, namely Temptasia's two 기사 on link and link. It is also a sister 기사 to thecon's link. Additionally, it's minutely related (like a very distant cousin) to megloveskyle's 기사 on link. But I really wanted to stress the importance of constructive criticism here. So at the risk of sounding (exceptionally) redundant, I wish to discuss the importance of expressing yourself, taking responsibility for your actions, and not rating and running. Forgive me if this is all too familiar (thecon's 기사 summed...

Hip-hip-hooray! Wow- I had just hit 20 팬 and I am so excited. I have been "fanpoping" since last June and frankly at first I joined 팬팝 just to get to watch some 비디오 of my 가장 좋아하는 shows. In the beginning I don't think I even paid attention to whatever was going on with the web-site- 비디오 were the only thing that mattered. I suppose some people do 가입하기 just for that. But the 더 많이 time I spend on this web-site the 더 많이 cool things, that others like 유튜브 lack, I have found. I definitely loved the format of the profiles- the spots arrangement, the updates, the how many things you...

Part one can he found link
Lately I have noticed a swell in the amount of inappropriate comments. 코멘트 that have sexual innuendo, are hurtful, 또는 are just plain gross, and most of the time they have nothing to do with the topic at hand. What I fail to grasp is why people feel like they need to do this. I can't understand why they can't control themselves and write something appropriate 또는 nothing at all. Is it a lack of sense of humor? Do they not realize that people spend a lot of time contributing to this site and a 코멘트 like that can make all their efforts feel wasted? 또는 do they not...

Ok, this is my first time to write a soapbox. Please be gentle with me and don't make it hurt too much. *giggle*

So I've been a member of 팬팝 for a little while now, and I've seen how the community has evolved and grown. I first came to 팬팝 for two reasons: link and link.

Towards the end of Season 1 of Heroes, my interest in 팬팝 started waning. Call it TV burnout. But a funny thing happened: Dave sent me a message about a new feature that was going to debut: Picks! I dabbbled in it a little 의해 adding the pick: link It was fun, but I didn't think I'd be creative enough to add any good...
