Does any one know why roland crossed to the other side and picked hell ?

I believe Rolland became a Demon due Rosaline, the girl he fell in 사랑 with (Fallen in Love). I don't recall the exact details, but they didn't end up together. Rolland was so 심장 broken he chose Hell.
