Well, I suppose her novels. THen definitely Beauty and the Beast, not only because it's similar to Pride and Prejudice, but also because of a moral.

Haha. I'm getting a bit into Austen at the moment. I've read Pride & Prejudice, seen a few adaptions of that and now I'm currently reading Mansfield Park. I've got access to all the novels excluding Northanger Abbey, so I'm watching an adaption of that as I write this. I NEVER usually watch an adaption before reading the book but I'm really interested in the story and didn't want to wait to go and buy the book. :)

Any way. Even though "Aladdin" isn't really all that much like any Jane Austen novel I can imagine it to be a story that she may of gone on to write about. A young heroine (ie Jasmine) choosing between marrying for love (ie Aladdin) or for money, of which is a recurring theme in the majority of Austen's novels.

It could also be argued with Cinderella or Beauty and the Beast, in my opinion.

I see what you mean about Aladdin. It's true that a heroine is similar. I'm just not sure about a hero.
Please tell me when you finish to watch if you like it or not. BTW which adaptation? THe 2007 version?

Yes Its the 2007 tv adaption, I'm enjoying it alot so far. Whats your opinion on this adaption and the novel in general?

ppv and I have discussed this MANY times! Ever since I read "Pride and Prejudice" back in High School it reminded me of Beauty and the Beast...the relationship between Belle and the Beast is very similar to Elizabeth and Darcy.
