I feel they could have given Tiana a "warmer, kinder personality, a la Cinderella's, Ariel's, or Belle's." What we got was a go-getter who was very prickly towards others. Sass means being disrespectful/impudent toward other people..

I've noticed that about 'sass' as well. Sassy, spunky, and feisty are all cutesy, sugar-coated terms people give characters who are rude, disrespectful and/or obnoxious just because they like them and don't want to admit they're those things. I think Snow White is an actual example of spunky but people ignore that in her because she's not rude about it. You can't be funny and sassy without being impudent about it I guess.

I've also noticed very un-sassy characters get called that ALL the time if they're popular somewhere, like Elsa, Belle, Rapunzel, Glinda the Good, and others get called that for saying, like, a single amusing line.

Sorry, OT. Anyway, here or maybe 7 but I think I'll finally bump Elsa up.
