She just had a sensitive moment. She couldn't have been optimistic in that moment. Besides he needed to know the truth. Even though in the end it didn't end to be the truth.
As about Naveen, he was a jerk. She didn't need to apologize. Besides they love each other so that is greater than an apology.

^^^ Um, I DISAGREE. Tiana let her depression over not realizing her own dream-- trump her decency towards others. What she said to Ray was unkind, and needless. And Tiana never apologized to Ray at all. As for Naveen, even if he was not the man Tiana was looking for ( jerk), what she did was uncalled for. She didn't need to constantly harass him over his personality. It wasn't her place to do that.

Tiana should have spent even more time as a frog until she gained some perspective. Even Mama Odie told her that her tendency to throw-out-the-baby-with-the-bathwater wasn't helpful. Tiana should have apologized to both guys. But Disney glanced over that, as usual.

^ She didn't apologize to Ray because he died. Besides people tend to say those kind of things. I would've probably said that too if I was in Tiana's situation. Does that make me a bad? Well, I don't consider myself a good person and sometimes I even hate myself but what Tiana did was simply just a moment when her dreams where crushed as she couldn't bare to lie to ray anymore.
Besides, Tiana helped Naveen become a better human and all so... And I find her critiquing Naveen kinda sassy.
She isn't perfect but nobady is perfect. Those flaws she has don't make her a negative person.

Like I said. She's BOTH. Tiana owed BOTH GUYS an apology.

The flip side is Belle, whom people keep seeing as a bland girl on Fanpop. NOT SO. Adam/Beast is a BIG JERK. Where Tiana critiques Naveen almost incessantly, Belle says flatly --- one time--- you should learn to control your temper!!! Belle doesn't proceed to continue harassing Adam about his personality nonstop. She backs off. And Adam comes to the realization that he is a jerk ON HIS OWN.

Tiana's nagging personality could be interpreted as sassy, but I like Belle more--- because she believes she can't change others. Change comes from within. Other people have to change themselves from within.

^ I don't think Tiana treated them well. Ray was so sweet to Tiana. He never said anything unkind to Tiana about her dreams. But Tiana said something cruel to him about Evangeline. And it deeply hurt Ray. You can see that if you watch the movie.

^ Of course I have watched the movie. If you watch the movie you can also see that she didn't mean to say that. She was just having a down moment. She realized what she said hurt him and was bad. And if she would certainly apologize him if he was still alive. Tiana loved Ray too. And she never wanted to tell him the truth because she knew it would hurt him. She was just having a bad moment.
Mistreating is making someone's life worse and treating them like garbage. She treated Ray really well and she didn't treat either Naveen or him as garbage.
She clearly liked Naveen even if she was being sassy around him. When he was feeling down and thought he was useless he comforted him and helped him instead if making him feel even worse.
I don't think she mistreated them in anyway.
She may not be an angelic person like the Classic Princesses are but saying she mistreated people is a bit harsh.

Well, I clearly seemed to only see how Tiana let her personal hurts drive her motives. She couldn't achieve her dream, so for a while she went around BURSTING the dreams and hopes of other people. I think Tiana is a bit harsh in the way she acts. It takes a while for her to remember what her father had on the back porch with the gumbo recipe: LOVE for his community and for the dreams of others as well as his own.

Naveen was a jerk at the beginning of the movie and he deserved to hear what Tiana said to him. It's true she might have found a better way to tell him. But I think her intentions were pure and I also think she was frustrated with him. As far as Ray goes, she was sad, scared and angry, and just spoke without thinking.

Not saying Tiana is a horrible person, but she needs a tad more self-control. Speaking without thinking does require an apology, I think. Even people who are not fictitious Disney princesses would like an apology when you blurt something insensitive.

I think so. She's flawed and human, and she makes mistakes and says and does things she needs to learn from and apologize for at some point (WHO DOESN'T??!!), but ultimately she LEARNS from them, and I think her heart is in the right place at the end of the day.

Being hardworking and consistent don't make someone nice. Pleasantness, an upbeat demeanor, etc. do. So yes, she can be nice, and she can be mean too. Like a real person. I definitely think the niceness outweighs the meanness though.

Also, Belle is widely seen as realistic, relatable and interesting here. Where beyond like 2 people have ever called her bland?

I don't think she's as mean as others make her out to be - she can be judgmental, but mostly she's just reserved and very no-nonsense.

You can be kind/good while not being nice - niceness is just being pleasant, it's not a moral alignment. Tia wasn't telling Ray about Evangeline being "just a star" to be an asshole, she was trying to protect him from getting hurt by telling him what she felt was the truth. The only reason why we judge her for it is because in patf-land it turns out Evangeline is real. In the real world we'd understand she was doing him a favor.
