The more I read about Elsa, the more excited I get about her. FINALLY, it sounds like we Classic fans are getting a "traditional" princess again. =D I don't want to get my hopes up too high, but the books on Frozen definitely describe her the same way Aurora, snow, and Cindy are more or less like: graceful, quiet, indoorsy, shy, responsible, traditionally feminine, wants love, and a link. She sounds especially like Aurora with her shyness, sense of duty, and elegant manner.

I'm so glad because I'm so sick of the cliché "feisty, adventurous, link" thing that absolutely every single heroine except maybe Jane and Mulan have been like since Ariel. Sorry, Anna, but that sounds like you.

^That! *Claps wildly* I was going to comment something similar to that. I hope Elsa will be like the classic princesses. It'd be a breath of fresh air from the "feminist" type. (I have nothing against feminists, but I can't think of a word to describe that personality-it's getting old.)

Hopefully the Feminist won't try take her down on their blogs.

^^Ugh, I was arguing with one for a long time on IMDB (with, I was happy to see, other Classic lovers) who claimed Elsa would be a feminist icon like Elphaba and said she wouldn't be much like the classics basically because they're "too perfect" (and when I listed all their flaws, a lot copied from Rhythmic's analysis, she said they weren't good enough! Ugh). I didn't fully understand her reasoning, but I'm glad Elsa has the most fans- it's very telling that people seem to prefer the feminine, shy one over adventurous, outgoing Anna, who is a lot like the modern ones.

also, one of the other fans I mentioned pointed out something I never thought of before: it was actually very smart of Disney to give us two princesses- one similar to the classic 3, and one similar to the modern, adventurous ones. that way both groups of fans will have a princess they like. they also said if it was just Elsa, they would have probably aggressively contemporized her, but with Anna being the modern one, that gives room for Elsa to be different.

I feel like she's too complex and bada** to be too much like the classic princesses but I can also see some qualities from them that she'd have from them.

I don't know about Snow but Cindy and Aurora are certainly complex. Also, I despise the word bad@ss. It's supposed to be an insult (meaning a fierce person). Elsa is just too noble to be bad@ss.

you guys should check out the book A Sister More Like Me. I just now did and it kinda confirms my theory. I wanna buy it.

I like that idea.

She is really different, she has lots of flaws and is something like the antagonist (not the villain), she is cold because she has to and she is full of insecurities.
I don't think she is modern like Rapunzel or classic like the three other princesses and I am surprised people have chosen she is. I guess they haven't read any spoilers yet.

Poci- actually, on IMDB, one of those posters I mentioned read the novelization as well as A Sister More Like Me and said she definitely acts like them.

and they definitely have flaws too. Way more so than many of the newer ones, who are often quite idealized. Her flaws are actually pretty similar to Aurora's, which I guess is one reason why I like her.

I honestly thought she was a bit of both.

I heard that she and Anna were rebellious in the song "We Know Better", which was cut out of the movie. She did seem like both. She was obedient, elegant, and reserved. But if she is pushed, she will fight back, like the modern princesses do.
