I don't hate her though, but it was rude to leave during the song

Always bugs me.

Ariel's getting alot of hate recently :/

Not always though. You've got to be kidding about Ariel being rude. It's even more rude that Sebastian was saying her dreams are stupid and a mistake. He deserved what he got! He was even more rude so Ariel had every right to do what she did.

Actually he only wanted to protect her and keep her safe from harm. That's not being rude, that's being concerned and caring. And he put a lot of effort and passion in this song, which was specially for her. So she was the rude and unmannered one.

Oh yes telling someone their hopes and dreams are ridiculous and try to change them isn't rude at all. Why should she be pleasant and polite to him when he's trying to change who she is and her passion.

What, Sebastian was rude for wanting to protect her? After all, it was humans, who killed her mother. So either she never really cared for her mother, or she still hasn't realized what has happened and who's responsible.

Since when do you actually take sequels into account? Maybe Ariel's actually smart enough to realize that humans are just like the people under the sea. There's good ones and bad ones and excuse her for actually trying to give them a chance and believing in equality and standing up to injustice against racist. They had no proof that all humans are bad like the ones who killed her mother. So because she believes in going against the prejudice of the humans that means she doesn't care about her mother? Yeah that makes perfect logic, NOT! Also protecting Ariel has nothing to do with it. True he was trying to but he was doing it in a rude way. He plainly said her dream was stupid by saying "You dream about going up there but that is a big mistake". He was rude in his song by telling her that her dream is dumb and that his opinion about which world is better is better than hers.

I don't think Ariel's smart enough to realize that. Anyway, you seem to be arguing only for the sake of argument. So regardless of what you say, she was extremely rude to Sebastian during the song, and she was acting in selfish and unladylike way.

What makes you think she's not smart enough? She's plenty smart and has made that perfectly clear in the series she believes in equality, not that you would know since you've never watched it. She may have been rude to Sebastian but he was even more rude to her so she had every right.

I always wish that she had stayed til the end.

First of all, why don't we all ignore the manners here? Yeah she may have been a BIT rude but hey, this isn't Queen 'Lizbeth's tea party. Then there's the fact that all Ariel said was "Why Don't you go tell my father that?" and all Sebastian ever says is about blaming teenagers. So i'd say none are rude here. And this has nothing to do with equality so it's not valid. I'm fine with her leaving the sea but she did it lie it was stupid. The whole point was just idiotic. Who wants to make their own dream come true by taking the risk to be a slave while knowing this woman can do anything? It's not that hard to think Ursula probably has a potion to turn herself into a human if Ariel could too. Also she didn't even show a speck of worry for her father or sisters or anyone! Okay, yeah maybe Ursula did that but... you can't just keep such a big thing a secret, ESPECIALLY when you know that sea witch can do anything...even turning you or herself into another species. Finally, let's all be honest here...some of us love her, but you have to admit...she is terribly bad at responsibility.

Your the one who started this. I was saying "You gotta be kidding me" as a retorical term to the person who actually wrote this. Also Ariel is not stupid, I think she's quite smart and you only think she's stupid because she was willing to take a chance and sign her life to the sea witch. Your confusing stupidity with bravery. When was the last time you've actually seen The Little Mermaid since your such an expert on how to judge Ariel as a character?

I agree with KataraLover you say you hate her which makes me assume you haven't seen the movie in a while so how can you be such an expert on her and her personality and how she thinks I mean really! I don't think she's stupid at all she's a teenager who made a split second decision and the way her dad yelled at her I don't blame her for leaving the ocean my dad is just like Triton he yells at me so much but he tries to keep me safe and my sister is like Ariel's I would have done what Ariel did and just get away sure I love my family but still!

I've seen it recently, after all I'm watching all the DP movies these days. So DsnyPrincess, I HAVE seen it a few days ago, and I THINK she's dubm, because she is. This is not bravery, thin is stupidity as I said.
