	maryksand picked No..i prefer the story as it is..;): I agree with starlight77, Eric never wanted to leave the kindom or dreamed about being a mermaid whereas Ariel dreamed about being a human for her whole life, long before meeting Eric. She wanted to be a part of a human world and her father finalyl came to terms with it and accepted her wish. I love that moment between Ariel and Triton and I think it was necessary for the story to go that way, for Triton to acknowledge and accept his daughter's wishes. posted over a year ago.
