18. The Virginia Company

It’s kind of odd that the opening scene in the movie is last in our countdown. Here is where we meet our hero AND our villain. They are setting sail from England to the new world in 검색 of the three G’s; Glory, God and Gold. We also meet Thomas, a young clumsy boy on the road to becoming a man. He immediately strikes up a friendship with John Smith, who takes him under his wing.


17. Steady as the Beating Drum

Here we meet Pocahontas’ tribe. We get to catch a glimpse of their peaceful and natural lives. We meet Chief Powhatan, who has just returned 집 from a journey and looking 앞으로 to seeing his daughter.


16. Pocahontas to wed Kocoum

Pocahontas and her Father have a 심장 to heart. He wants to see her on the right path, and believes she should marry Kocoum. He wants her to live a long, steady life, like the river. But being the “little mischief” she is, of course she wants to do things HER way, and follow her own path; whatever that may be.


15. Meeko steals Percy’s cherries

Being the nosy raccoon that he is, Meeko decides to sneak around the ship to investigate things. He falls off a branch and ends up in a bathtub, with Governor Ratcliffe’s pampered pooch, Percy, who is soaking in a warm bath eating a bowl of delicious cherries. After startling each other, Meeko grabs the bowl and dumps the cherries in his mouth, and runs off.


14. Meeko and Flit take a dive

These two help to provide some comedy relief to a serious movie. At the beginning Pocahontas dives off of a cliff. Meeko quickly decides that he is going to follow her. About halfway down he begins to freak out, while Flit flutters nearby smarting off and basically getting onto him. Meeko grabs him and they fall into the water together.


13. John Smith meets Meeko

After seeing “strange clouds”, Pocahontas decides to go and check it out. She watches John Smith from behind a bush, and Meeko gets the notion to go meet this stranger. John Smith tells Meeko he’s never seen an animal like him before, and then he gives him a biscuit. Being the little pig that he is, Meeko practically inhales it. John discovers that Meeko has a “friend” nearby, and he walks over to the 부시, 부시 대통령은 where Pocahontas is hiding. Luckily, Flit comes to her rescue, and John must leave because Governor Ratcliffe is coming ashore.



12. Secret meeting in the woods: Thomas shoots Kocoum

Pocahontas sneaks out to see John Smith. Nakoma is afraid that she will get hurt, so she tells Kocoum about it. So he follows her. Meanwhile, Thomas had been ordered 의해 the Governor to follow John wherever he goes. Pocahontas and John meet up and finally realize how much they care about each other, and they share a beautiful, passionate kiss. Kocoum watches from a distance and is enraged, and starts to attack and attempt to kill John. Thomas, trying desperately to save his friend, shoots Kocoum, and he falls to his death, pulling Pocahontas’s 목걸이 off and breaking it as he fell into the water.


11. Pocahontas spies on John Smith

Being the “little mischief” that she is, Pocahontas follows John Smith around, not really thinking about getting hurt. She just went with her instincts and spied on him. 당신 can tell 의해 the way she looks at him and smiles that she is interested in him, even though she literally knows nothing about him.


10. Pocahontas and the compass

Through the entire movie, Pocahontas is trying to interpret a dream she keeps having about a spinning arrow. After her tribe captures John Smith, she retreats to Grandmother Willow for comfort and advice. Meeko hands her John’s compass and she realizes that the compass is like the 애로우 from her dream, pointing her down her path.


9. Savages

How loud are the drums of war? This scene is extremly climactic. A battle is about to begin, John Smith is about to be beaten to death, and Pocahontas is running as fast as she can to get to him.

8. Listen With Your Heart

Que que na-to-ra...you will understand...well, 당신 will if 당신 speak Powhatan! In this scene, Pocahontas is trying to figure out what this reoccuring dream means, and Grandmother Willow tells her to just listen with her 심장 and to the spirits that surround her.

7. Meeting Pocahontas

In this scene we meet the beautiful Pocahontas doing what she does best; standing on a cliff with the wind blowing through her hair. Nakoma yells up to her telling her that her Father has returned. She makes a running start and leaps off of the cliff finishing with a lovely 백조 dive! This scene shows off her adventurous spirit...which slowy dwindles away after she meets John Smith.

6. "If I Never Knew You"

This is truly one of the most romantic parts of the movie. Pocahontas sneaks into the tent that John Smith is being held prisoner in. She hugs him and cries, saying "It would've been better if we never met. None of this would've happened." He lovingly looks at her, and says "Pocahontas, look at me. I'd rather die tomorrow than live a hundred years without knowing you." Then he starts to sing to her.

5. "Just Around the Riverbend"

Pocahontas has just heard the news that she is to marry Kocoum. But in her heart, she knows it's just not the path for her. She hops into her canoe, and she's off! This is one of my 가장 좋아하는 songs, because it reveals so much about her. It shows off her adventurous side, when she goes down a big waterfall. At the end of the scene the river parts, going to seperate ways. To the left, the river it steady and calm; to the right, it's wild and full of curves and waves. She goes right, showing that she will follow her own path.

4. Pocahontas saves John Smith then he gets shot

Pocahontas throws herself onto John Smith, preventing her Father to strike him. He tells her to stand back, and she says " I won't! I 사랑 him, Father. Look around you. This is where the path of hatred has brought us. This is the path I choose, Father. What will yours be?". He sees that he is wrong and sets Smith free. But Ratcliffe thinks that it's a trick, and tries to shoot Chief Powhatan, but John Smith jumps in front of him, taking the bullet himself.

3.The meeting

As John Smith explores the new world, he stops for a drink of water 의해 a beautiful misty waterfall. He senses that someone is following him, so he hides. Pocahontas slowly makes her way down to the waterfall, looking for this mystery man. All of a sudden he jumps out in front of her, with his gun loaded ready to fire. She slowly stands up and does what she does best; stares him down. He lowers his weapon and is awestruck 의해 her beauty.


2. Heartbreaking Goodbye

As we come to the end of the movie, John Smith must return to England to receive proper medical treatment. Pocahontas comes to see him off, and he asks her to come with him. She looks at him with her soulful eyes, then looks at her Father who tells her she must choose her own path. She decides to stay, saying "I'm needed here". They share an emotional and passionate kiss, and his ship sets sail. Pocahontas runs all the way to her 가장 좋아하는 cliff and a big gust of wind rushes up behind her as she watches the 사랑 of her life leave. Not your typical "happily ever after", but that's what sets this film apart from others.

1. "Colors of the Wind"

After insulting Pocahontas and her people 의해 calling them "savages", John Smith gets schooled 의해 Pocahontas. She opens his eyes and explains her viewpoint on life and nature and how mankind is connected to everything in nature. She encourages him to connect 더 많이 with nature, instead of conquering it. It is a very deep, and meaningful song with an important lesson.
