Safira-09 Hercules´ dream changed with Meg, so nobody complans about it. He got what he really wanted and needed in the end.

Sorry if I wasn't clear on that. Rhythmicmagic never said that Tiana gives up her dream for a man. She says the complete opposite. Hope it's clear now :)

Jayden-G ^ Yeah, it's clear. I remember her saying that. I never got why neither Aladdin nor Flynn attempt to get a job and no one says anything, but then bitch about Cinderella. I agree that Tiana's dream never changed, she just said that it would not be complete, which are two different things. I wonder what/if pretty_angel92 will say to that.

AudreyFreak At first I saw "Complaints" and then say my username and thought I was gonna get flamed. Haha. But yay, I got quoted. I don't think people excuse him for being a guy, but maybe they do. I've never even thought of it, but you're right- he certainly has the freedom she doesn't. He already lives on the streets; he doesn't have to answer to anyone. Cinderella has every step watched. I think people sympathize with Aladdin because 1) he's cute 2) he gives those kids his only meal and then defends them 3) the poor orphan thing always gets sympathy- look at Eugene/Flynn. and he wasn't even stealing to survive like Aladdin. Plus he's a modern hero, Cinderella is a classic and people like to hate on them. I agree with Shanyu that people don't understand Cinderella. I think the 3 classics are constantly misunderstood, but Cinderella has the most advocates. People also misunderstand Mulan, but in a more positive way. they think she's this confident ball-buster when she's easily intimidated, respects men and unsure of herself at first, which is what makes her sympathetic. But back to Cinderella. I can't believe people say she should punch her steps and leave. LOL cuz it's that easy. They have power over her and social standing. She doesn't. Attacking them in any way is an idiotic move anyone with common sense knows. I also have yet to see where these critics want her to go, too. People just need to quit looking at the characters from a shallow surface level. Just because Cinderella doesn't get into a fisticuffs round with her stepsisters doesn't mean she is a doormat. Just because Mulan goes off to war doesn't mean she's a ladette with Merida's hobbies.

Jessikaroo On the subject of Tiana, the problem is she built up so much that her dream was more important than anything. Hercules made it clear that he wanted Meg in his life from the get-go. Tiana giving up her dream was different from Hercules because we never really see her fall in love, or any indication about why she'd suddenly hold a life with Naveen above her live-long dream. Hercules we see falling in love with Meg and trying to bring her into his life, and we see the clear pros and cons each path holds for him. On one hand, he gets to live a life with his true love, on the other, he gets to live a life with his family. For Tiana, on one hand she gets to live a life with her true love who as an audience we are barely convinced she loves as much as he loves her, or live a life fulfilling her and her fathers life long dream plus living with her family and friends. Do you see the point I'm trying to make?

rhythmicmagic Oh yeah, I remember that rant. But I definitely agree with the Cinderella point. If it were a modern situation, I'd say it was obviously the worst thing that she stayed. But she didn't have the resources.

Animated_Paint Awesome article. As shanyuisboss said, it must have taken a lot of courage to write - and good on you! Everything you said about Cinderella AND Tiana made so much sense!! Plus, you're right about Aladdin and Hercules (though I do love them too ^^) and how they are never bashed for the same things that Cindy and Tiana are always bashed upon. Great article!! @Jessikaroo - what you said also makes a lot of sense :) I happen to be a Tiana/Naveen supporter so I don't mind it.
