Why would any one say no i mean the love of his life is stuck in a toomb underground with no way out and he has no friends no family he has to completly disconnect himself from the rest of the world

In the show yes I do feel sorry for him, in the book I think I feel more sorry for him, but in the show I definitely do too because he really loves Katherine and nobody gets him, Stefan treats him like he really is (as I think Stefan said at one point) "the monster he pretends to be" but of course he really isn't. I LOVE LOVE LOVE his character, and I can't wait for them to unveil him more and delve into him like they did in the books!

He loved Kathrine TRUELY. But she told him she never loved that she loved Stefan. Then Stefan got another girl that looks exacly same as Kathrine and Damon is left with noone.. Alone..

she told him that she loves stefan .but she loves him to.

He's been heartbroken and toyed around with by both girls he loved and they both chose Stefan over him, it took 145 years to get over katherine and he's been through a lot with his brother also. Damon loves hard and passionately and it's real. He's emotionally hurt and it still hasn't fully recovered. :(
