Re-write This Story; My Thoughts on How 6x22 Should Have Ended

I don't know if anyone will read this, but even if nobody does, I have to get it out. In the weeks after the finale, I didn't know how to feel. (Also, I was ill during that time, which didn't help). The DE fandom seems to be 스플릿, 분할 into 2 groups, those who loved the scenes in 6x22, who are full of hope and optimism and believe 더 많이 than ever that DE will be endgame. Then there are those who are not so optimistic. There are those who feel let down with how the writers handled the storyline, who feel disappointed and well...angry.
Actually, I am one of those people.
Will DE be endgame after this? Probably. But even if Nina does return in S7, and Elena and Damon have a joyous reunion, it doesn't erase the fact that for one season, the writers put Elena in a box, and robbed us of a season when DE could have been together. I'm afraid it may be a case of 'too little, too late.'
I think the reason why I wasn't enamoured with 6x22 that much was because I hated the linking of Elena's life to Bonnie's. I thought the whole thing was contrived and kind of cheap, to be honest. The writers gave Bamon a big emotional scene guaranteed to make Bamon 팬 all excited, and make them think Damon chose Bonnie over Elena, even though Elena would have wanted him to save Bonnie anyway, and would have given him hell if he'd let Bonnie die. When 팬 started speculating on how Elena would be written out, someone wondered if she could perhaps be in a coma 또는 something, but I couldn't see how the writers could have an almost entire S7 without us seeing Elena at all. I mean, it would be the equivalent of putting her in a box in a cupboard and leaving her there until 7x21 또는 the finale. I know a lot of people were relieved that Elena didn't die, but I've been thinking about that too, and I don't think a death scene would have been that terrible. In fact, I think I would have preferred it over the scene we did get in 6x22. It sure would have been 더 많이 realistic. Let me explain.

I'm aware that some DE 팬 LOVED the scenes we got in the finale, but I found them quite dissatisfying for some reason. OK, Elena's not really dead. OK, her last words were "I 사랑 당신 Damon Salvatore" and yes, their dancing was quite spectacular. So I should be happy with that, right? But I wasn't. I couldn't shake off the feeling that although their scenes were touching, they weren't quite the send-off DE truly deserved.
Imagine for a moment that Elena isn't under a sleeping spell and a lot of things in the last 2 episodes (and in the whole season) never happened. It's the finale. Damon proposes to Elena and she says yes. They share the most incredible kiss; an amazing song is playing in the background, and the camera shot of them 키싱 is just beautiful, and 당신 are crying with happiness. And then...Kai (whom everyone thought was dead) shows up, intent on getting revenge on Damon 의해 killing his beloved. Damon pushes Elena out the way so she won't be harmed, and she watches in horror as Damon and Kai fight to the death. Just before Kai is about to kill Damon, Elena throws herself in front of him, and manages to kill Kai but is fatally injured in the process. She then dies in Damon's arms. Fade to black. Roll end credits.
I personally think that would have been a far 더 많이 worthy ending than the one we actually got. Big, epic, emotional, powerful, shocking, heartbreaking...its everything 당신 want in a finale. It's not like her death would have been final, because no-one who dies in TVD really stays dead anyway. Elena could be brought back to life in time for the S7 finale. It wouldn't have made any difference to how soon we saw Elena again, 또는 in DE being endgame.
My point is, I doubt that 팬 would have had a problem with Elena's death, if it was a testament to her 사랑 for Damon. DE needed a scene like that in 6x22, and we never really got one. Yes, they did a lot of flashy dancing and said 'I 사랑 you', but something vital was missing. While the scenes were nice, they could have been bigger, better and 더 많이 epic. 당신 know, something that said "This is why Delena are THE power couple in this show. This is why people 사랑 them so much. This is why they should be endgame." If we had just seen how much Elena loved Damon, then maybe...just maybe...I could have forgiven Nina Dobrev for leaving the show and Julie Plec for continuing TVD without her in it. I mean, we all know Elena loves Damon; we've heard her say it; we've seen how bereft she was when he 'died' last season. But to see her sacrifice her life for his would have blown everything out of the water, and would have been a far 더 많이 fitting, honourable way to write Elena out of the show; as well as a stupendous tribute to DE's love.

The problem is, Julie Plec knew she was taking a big risk in continuing the show without Elena. 의해 글쓰기 the sleeping spell, she was trying to find a way to make us stay. But 의해 doing so, she wasn't 메리다와 마법의 숲 enough to give DE a fitting goodbye, 또는 to write the finale they truly deserved. I also suspect it may be something deeper. I think that Plec and the rest of the producers of TVD have 로스트 interest in DE. I'm afraid they are bored of DE. I'm afraid they've 로스트 their passion for Delena, and their vision of what makes DE so epic, and unfortunately, that has slowly become 더 많이 and 더 많이 evident in the way they've written their story. 당신 may disagree, but I feel like Plec and Co. value Delena in name only, and only because the scores of 팬 demand it. It wasn't always like that. In the beginning, 당신 really felt that the producers were invested in Delena, (in spite of the sometimes wishy-washy 답변 they gave in interviews). Why? Because the scenes we got were always so outstanding. No matter how much the producers gushed about Stelena, we weren't fooled.
Plec has tried to be clever in getting DE 팬 to keep watching. I would never tell the optimistic ones NOT to watch S7. It's great that they're so happy. 의해 all means watch if that's what 당신 want. But I cannot. I 사랑 DE so much, it hurts to see what the writers have done to them. Hopefully one 일 DE will be reunited and the writers will give them the happy ending they, and the fans, so richly deserve.

loveofdelena i couldnt agree more with this. the approach towards the delena love story in season six has been simply disgusting. never has there been such disrespect towards the characters of a show, and its main couple. im completely done with anything to do with this show. if you can even call it a show anymore. the characters have been destroyed beyond recognition. its nothing now. and even if elena comes back in the end, it wont change a thing, the show will still be a shell of its former self. nothing will ever change that, unless the writers get their brains back into gear, and do a complete rewrite of the entire last season. but alas. we know that thats never going to happen. and, yes about elena exit, and delena final scenes, like i felt that delena were lacking that sense of realism, and understanding that that made them such an amazing couple. its like it was completely absent. i mean dont get me wrong, it was sweet and all, but it was nothing special, not by a long shot. delena and elena deserved so much better. delena was always the ultimate couple of the show, and this is how they treat it? disgracful!! to tell you the truth, i have never been so relieved to cut all ties with a tv show that i loved in all my life. i think that its the best descition i ever made. and i never thought that i would hear those words coming out of my mouth.

loveofdelena like you, i too dont plan on watching anthing beyond season six. this is done. but too all the optimists out there, who still believe in delena and will continue to watch for damon and the others. you watch the show if it makes you feel better. but its not going to exclude the fact that this "show" is never going to be the same again.

delenasalvatore @loveofdelena, It's good to see you around here hun. I've missed your comments. I've seen a lot of DE fans on YouTube celebrating and all; "DE are endgame folks! It's official!" It's not official. I mean, they probably will be, but is that really the point anymore? I never wanted their story to be cut off like this. Delena deserved so much better, and I honestly feel that they are really nothing more than a pawn in the game the producers are playing. Plec and Co. clearly don't care two hoots about Delena anymore, the only reason they still need them at this point is to guarantee they won't lose their fanbase. They are far more interested in Steroline and Bamon now. That much is apparent. I dunno how other DE fans can overlook this. Maybe they haven't shipped DE as long as we have. Nina said on her instagram that she always wanted Elena to have a season six adventure. I've no idea why she can think that an adventure equates being put in a coffin and having a 60 year nap. I'm so, so disappointed in what the writers have done to us. I'm beyond heartbroken. Words fail me. That's why I've given up on this show.

loveofdelena i honestly dont blame you. i cant take anything in this show seriously anymore. i really dont understand why so many people are thrilled about this. the ending was just....okay. nothing more than that. and it pains me, because this is delena, and they are worth so much more than this. they could have atleast tried to make the ending beliveable. but noooo...they had to ruin it didnt they. delena endgame or not, this show is dead. and nothing is going to bring it back. they can give us an endgame, but its not going to change the fact that delenas story has been written in such an awful, and terrible way.

MelodyLaurel I don't know why you seem to blame Plec & Co. for this when it was Nina who decided to leave the show and leave the fate of this ship hanging. They made the best of the situation, IMO. They managed to work around Nina's absence next season without killing off her character, which will give the hopeful folks a reason to stick until the end in hopes Nina would come back. Are you seriously suggesting that Elena being fridged would be better than this? You want to put her through the pain of being killed, only to "prove" her love for Damon, something that we as viewers are already aware of? Yeah, okay, no one stays dead on this show. Let's be generous and assume that Nina agrees to come back for season 7. How is her being dead for an entire season and resurrected in the s7 finale better than her being alive and spending that time in a box? Do enlighten me. Moreover, there is no guarantee that Nina will be back for season 7, so at least with the ending we got, the fans could imagine that Damon and Elena would eventually be reunited, even if it's not shown on-screen. Death is final, and puts Damon through much more pain. For your information, I've shipped this pairing since the very beginning, so don't pull the 'oldie' card with me when it comes to this ship. I was as invested in it as you are, but the hard truth is that Nina left, and we have a choice to either curse the heavens for eternity, or move on with our lives. Canon has never stopped us before.

delenasalvatore @MelodyLaurel - There's no need for you to lash out at me. I'm just expressing my thoughts. I know 6x22 had DE's last scenes and I should be in a really philosophical, fuzzy mood, (heck, maybe I should even be happy), but I am not. When I write stuff down I feel better. I was going crazy, because on YouTube all I see are DE fans celebrating and sighing in contentment. I sometimes feel as if I'm the only shipper out there who feels like this. They didn't HAVE to carry on with a 7th season. Plec knew about Nina wanting out at the end of S6. Six seasons is a good number to end a show on. I don't know why TV Execs or whoever think it's fine to carry on and on with a show until it's on its last legs and the writing is poor, the characters have either left or been killed off and they're struggling with creative storylines. S6 could've been the last one. (For the record, this is apparently the second consecutive time the season finale didn't get 2 million viewers.) The show could have ended with DE being together. If they had done that, we wouldn't be going through this. But that didn't happen. Yes, I am suggesting that killing off Elena's character in an heroic fashion would have been better than her taking a 60 year nap in a coffin while all her friends go about their lives as if nothing's happened. I would never ever have WANTED Elena to die. BUT - I would never have chosen for her to be put in storage for an indefinite length of time either. There are too many gaping plot holes about it, such as: couldn't Damon have given Bonnie some vampire blood, let her die, Elena comes back, Bonnie takes the cure to become a human witch again, and they go back and find a cure for Damon? What about how quickly everyone said goodbye to Elena without trying to find a way to bring her back even though in previous seasons, they would have literally done anything to save her life. I hated the whole thing of Elena's life being linked to Bonnie's, and then Damon opting to save Bonnie. A death scene would have at least given their final scenes some magnitude instead of them dancing in the middle of a forest like they're trying to be on 'Dancing With The Stars.' Nina and Ian apparently had doubles for that scene. (Most likely for the lifts). I didn't MIND the dancing, but I think I would have preferred a simpler setting and just normal slow-dancing, with maybe flashbacks to their best moments. I don't know, the scenes were OK, but in my eyes, didn't really do this epic couple justice. As far as I can see, Plec is being clever here: she wants to ensure she doesn't lose the DE fans (so they'll keep watching for S7 even without Delena), and she's also dangling the prospect of a Bamon romance in front of the Bamon fans. It seems to be working too. Maybe Elena being dead for a whole season wouldn't be better, but as long as she's in that coffin, she may as well be dead anyway. It's not like she's lying in a bed in a beautiful room somewhere, where her friends can pop in and see her, and tell her about their day, you know? I know she was put in a coffin to keep her safe, but that doesn't humanize or normalize her condition. I would say it actually does the opposite and it does make it look like Elena has 'died' by putting her away like that even though she hasn't. If Nina doesn't return, then there wasn't much point in keeping her under a sleeping spell. I mean, fans can imagine and hope that one day DE are reunited, but if we never see it on-screen we don't know if they do or not, and that leaves fans in limbo, where they never receive the proper ending they want and is very unsatisfying for them. Not to mention disappointing. We didn't go through 6 years for that! Death, on this show, is usually not shown to be final. Many characters have 'died' and come back. People seem pretty sure that Nina will come back anyway (even though I don't think it's been confirmed). IF Elena had 'died', people would still believe she would return at the end of S7. The only difference between the scenario I present here, and the one we saw on the show, is that my preference would have been more honourable, more realistic, more powerful, and just overall would have been bigger and had more 'oomph' factor. Just my personal views and preference.

MelodyLaurel Sorry for sounding aggressive, that's the way I write my arguments. I promise I'm not actually cranky, but you gotta sound sharp when you're making an argument. Anyway, back on topic. If you were familiar with CW shows, you'd know that the network loves milking a show until it's no longer milk-able. Look at Supernatural. 11 seasons, turning to crap, and still going. No one wanted TVD to continue to a 7th season, and yet they did it, so we only have two choices: Keep watching or drop the show in hopes that the terrible ratings will finally lead the CW to cancel it. Not the best ending we had envisioned for the show, but the best in these circumstances. Again, they very carefully wrote the finale to work around Nina's absence. It made little sense, but it was the best they could have made out of the circumstances. They imposed the "no loopholes or you'll both die" rule so that the Scooby Gang would stop looking for a way to save Elena and just accept things as they are. And what's wrong about Damon choosing to save Bonnie over Elena? Does it physically bother you that Damon might actually care about someone other than Elena for once? Look at it this way, he could have killed Bonnie, but that would put an irreparable rift between him and Elena, and him and the rest of the gang. Or, he could content to live without Elena for a little longer (he's immortal, anyway), and let Bonnie live out her life in peace. He and Elena would undoubtedly be reunited eventually. If he can wait more than a century for Katherine, he can wait 60 years for Elena. No big deal. Bonnie has been consistently thrown under the bus for 6 seasons all so she could save Elena time and again, it's only fair if Elena feels like this is her way of repaying her. The writers have actually managed to salvage the Bonnie/Elena friendship, which has been sidelined for so many seasons in favor of Elena's romantic relationships with the Salvatores. Yes, you are right, everyone can see that's exactly what they're planning. They're dangling hope in front of everyone by suspending Elena in a limbo and hinting the prospect of Bamon. They're also doing it to keep people watching now that Nina is gone. That's what showrunners do. They don't really care about the pairings or development, they just want to prolong the show for as long as they can. You guys must have been living in a bubble if you believe Plec cared about DE as nothing more than the fan preferred pairing she canonized to draw in more viewers. If Bamon turns out to be equally popular, I would bet you good money they will make it happen. Mark my words. Yeah, okay, you're upset, and you feel like you're the only one who thinks so. Look, it's your opinion, what other people think don't matter. You think DE deserved better? Go on. But don't let other people's happiness and optimism get you down.

delenasalvatore I don't live in the US so I'm not familiar with how the CW works. I'm not so bothered about Damon saving Bonnie because he obviously did the right thing, but the thing is, all the Bamoners have found a way to interpret it in a romantic sense, and that does annoy me. I don't want to sound like a spoiled brat, but even when support for Bamon was undeniably at its height (S1-2), the writers made it clear that Damon only cared about Elena, and Bamon were lucky if they got a good scene (which for them was Bonnie giving Damon aneurysms and trying not to kill each other) once in a blue moon. Instead of giving Bonnie a solid love interest with another character (which they could EASILY do), it's like 'all roads lead to Bamon now that Elena's in a box'. This is exactly what they've been hoping for but it's 100x better now that Nina has left the show. The trouble with writing a character out without actually killing them off is the writers inevitably run into some difficulties. Like, 'this character's not actually dead but you won't see them again for the duration of the season.' It probably wouldn't have worked, but maybe if they'd hidden Elena somewhere that wasn't a coffin in the Salvatore crypt, then - I don't know - maybe it would have looked more humane. Between a state of the art security system and a spell to keep out intruders Elena surely would have been safe. It's too bad they couldn't use shots of Elena doing the Sleeping Beauty thing intermixed with shots of a body double throughout the season so it would look like she was under the sleeping spell, but wasn't forgotten. Maybe it's a long shot, but perhaps it would have been nicer and felt more 'real'. I think that once upon a time, at the very beginning, Plec DID care about Delena...in spite of her obscure comments about them sometimes in interviews. I believe that has completely reversed and DE are nothing more than a pawn or whatever, something to pull in viewers, and that really saddens me. I would like to think that an exec producer of a TV show, someone who has been involved from its very beginning, would feel an emotional bond or something besides mere numbers and figures for a ship they've developed for 6 years. I have a sneaking suspicion that Bamon will happen next season - even if its just a hook-up that doesn't actually lead to an actual relationship. Bamoners have been clamouring for it for years, and now that Elena is out of the picture, there's no real obstacle in their way anymore, except they risk infuriating the DE fans who are still waiting for Elena to wake up, and of course, that Bonnie would be cheating on her best friend who was in a coma's boyfriend, and it's kind of hard to see how Bonnie and Damon would deal with the guilt that would ensue, but hey, this is a show run by Plec who doesn't care about DE anymore, or presumably any of the moral implications of a Damon-Bonnie romance. Going back to your first question about why I'm mad at Plec when Nina decided to leave - I'm disappointed that Nina chose to leave, but I can't be mad at her because I don't know why she wanted to. If it was just because she wanted to break into movies, then I would probably be mad at her; but if it was for personal reasons she doesn't want to be made public, then I would have to respect that. I'm sorry if I sound miserable and depressed. I used to be really upbeat and positive throughout all the trials the writers threw at us. Because I could see it was for a reason and stuff. What they've done this time is just a bridge too far, or something. Not to mention the fact that they've wrecked one of my favourite couples whom I felt passionate about ending up together, and the producers have apparently lost all interest in DE's fate anyway, so I can't even trust them to do the right thing anymore. And it's all 'sell, sell, sell.' And Bamon are probably gonna happen now Elena's out the way. No matter which way I try to look at things, it's like the show's going/gone to hell, and I never wanted that to happen. I admire other fans' stoicism, I really do, but not everyone can be like that unfortunately.

loveofdelena i dont mind damon saving bonnie. its the fact that certian fanbases are trying to turn it in to this big romantic gesture, they are twisting the whole senerio, to make it something more than it actually is. thats whats annoying me more than anything. also their is the fact that they are trying to make it look as tho bonnie is the one who always understood him. which is absolute bullshit. it was always elena. i dont mind bamon having a sort of friendship, just as long as certain people know that its just platonic, and nothing will ever come of it. and that there is NO romantic feelings between them whatsoever. and then we have the whole, bonnie is damon BFF, and they are so close. thats also irritating me.

I wouldn't mind a friendship between Damon and Bon-Bon whatsoever AS LONG as the writers made it clear that was ALL there was, but you can bet they won't do that, and the writers will push the boundaries of their friendship so far, that it will look like the two have romantic feelings for each other, and they have a 'super deep connection' etc. It's such a load of crap. The fact that the writers have suddenly turned Bonnie into Damon's best friend is annoying me also. His best friends before this season were always Elena and Alaric.

loveofdelena oh, i know they wont do that. they have more than proved that. they have more than proved that amazing character development, and excellent chemistry and storylines mean sod all to them. its all about the ratings nw, and its very sad. it irritates me that they would even consider putting damon with someone who never once understood him, and never tried too. they write his character, surly they know damon by now. he wouldnt look twice at bonnie in a romantic way. what a dissapointment.

delenasalvatore The ratings have fallen quite a bit, so I don't know how big a part that's playing. Plec obviously wants to hang onto as many fans as she can, that's why she's trying to appeal to both DE and Bamon fandoms. But the thing is, IF she gives in to the Bamon fans' demands, then she runs a huge risk at upsetting the remaining DE fans and losing THEM, unless she assumes they'll stay for the finale. The Bamoners have always stayed for whatever crumbs the writers give them, so I think the DE fans who decide to stay on are more likely to go when they see the show is heading towards Bamon. It'll be the final nail in the coffin for them. Whatever happens, Plec is playing a dangerous game with the fans, because if she thinks she can script a Bamon romance and end the show with Delena, then it's to the show's and characters peril. No way can she give both fandoms what they want.

loveofdelena well if she is stupid enough to make bamon happen, i hope she is prepared for the backlash. because believe me, she will have one MAJOR angry fanclub on her hands. so i really hope she knows what wisdom means. because if she doesnt....

cathyirishchic I have mixed feelings about the season 6 finale. The goodbye with her friends and brother was nice. Damon saving Bonnie, well, he did the right thing - of what we'd like to assume was for Elena. Julie Plec will bring Bamon in season 7. That disgusts me. The scene where he kisses her forehead. Ew :( that of course brings much hope to the Bonnie-Damon fans. I wouldn't mind them being friends at all - just not too close and shown in a clear non-romantic way. I'm angry at Nina for leaving. How could she leave after six years?! After giving such an epic couple that is Delena. Could she not have made occasional scenes before she left for season seven? Like as stated above, her friends...and Damon talking to her - even if she is in a coffin. That would have been much better.

delenasalvatore @cathyirishchic, I never expected Nina to leave before the show ended, and I'm angry at the producers/network execs for pursuing a 7th season instead of doing the decent thing and officially ending it with 6x22. They should only have chosen to go ahead with S7 if Paul, Ian and Nina were all on board. I can't be angry at Nina though because I don't know why she wanted to leave. Maybe things at work were too strained and uptight? Especially if Nikki Reed was on set a lot and didn't like Nina working with Ian?? We don't know the whole story, but well, Nikki DID unfollow Nina on Twitter some months ago, and recently Ian also unfollowed her also, even though Nina continues to follow Ian. Nikki also liked an Instagram post from a fan who stated she was better for Ian than Nina. I dunno, I'm just guessing, but it sounds like Nikki could be very insecure, and if that's true, then maybe she made it awkward for Ian and Nina to work together. That could be one of the reasons Nina left. Perhaps it's a bit dodgy, but they could have manipulated shots to make it look like Elena was still in S7, but under the sleeping spell. For example, they could have filmed various shots of Nina lying on a bed: one from the door, one close up of her face, another from the side and so on. Then they could have used a body double for some of it. So they could have had Damon standing in the doorway, looking at Elena lying on the bed, taking her hand (Nina's body double), and then they could have shown Elena's face, as she slept. It COULD have worked.

cathyirishchic @delenasalvatore You're right! I had been thinking about this situation for a while. I'm sorry I just don't believe Nina signed up for six seasons. There is definitely more to it than that. It seems Nikki Reed is behind it all. She is jealous and insecure. Why should Nina leave because of her? As well as following Ian on Twitter she is also following Nikki too. Which was surprising. I'm angry at the producers too for letting the show go on without Elena but I read that they tried to convince Nina to stay. Wow, I couldn't have said it better myself for that Delena idea. I love it! The only thing I can be somewhat happy about is that she isn't dead so that leaves the door open for her return. When, is the question. I truly hope it isn't just the final episode.

loveofdelena "bonnies character has been consistantly thrown under a bus time and time again for six seasons to save elena. its only fair that elena feels she should repay the favour." yes, because elena has NEVER put her life on the line for bonnie right?? oh wait..., look, bonnie has made a lot of sacrifices, im not disputing that, but to say that bonnie has made sacrifices for elena, while neglecting to mention all the sacrifices elena has made for bonnie and everyone else is kind of hypocritical if you ask me. elena was all about sacrifices and saving people. and as for bonnie, she had witchy powers too protect her throughout the series. elena had only her compassionate heart (well, back when she was human anyway.) and that's what makes elenas sacrifices just as special as bonnies. also, I didn't exactly see elena being all laid back whenever bonnie was sacrificed, infact I remember her being devastated and doing everything in her power to try stop bonnie or bring back. and another thing, elena didn't exactly jump at the chance of bonnie being sacrificed. elena didn't ask bonnie to save her, bonnie chose to save her. so you cant use that as an argument to defend bonnie. and lastly, why should elenas relationship with the Salvatore's be pushed aside for just for bonnies sake?? bonnie is not the main character, elena is. this her ELENAS story. she is the leading female character. and the triangle takes center stage. her friendship with bonnie is an entirely different story. its a separate entity. elenas friendships with all the characters on the show are secondary too the triangle.

HaleyDewit The first time Bonnie died was so that they could take Klaus by surprise. Friendly reminder that Elena was sacrificed a couple episodes later. So, Bonnie dying wasn't for Elena's benefit. The second time was when she used too much magic to bring Jeremy back and she succumbed to it. The third time was because of the Other Side imploding. So, exactly how did Bonnie ever die for Elena??? And what kind of fucked up argument is that anyway? I died for you, now you have to die for me, too?

xoheartinohioxo Fucking THANK YOU, Ellen, i want to slap the anti-Elena's that play it like, even IF Bonnie had died for Elena, that somehow means they need a tit for tat type of situation. YES, Bonnie did a lot for Elena, but Elena has done a lot for EVERYONE. She was the most selfless character I've ever seen - how often was she willing to sacrifice HERSELF for everyone around her?
