Damon & Elena Article: How to look at 4x04.

Let's face it, we all got the opposite of what we were expecting because of the way we chose to interpret the spoilers. At the end of the episode I was mad, but then I chose to go back over the DE scenes and found out I was 읽기 them all wrong. Firstly, I was extremely mad when Elena told Bonnie, "I should be here with Stefan." Then I looked at it again and I realized exactly what Elena was saying. It wasn't that she WANTED to be there with Stefan like I first thought, it was that she WASN'T. Elena CHOOSE not to be there with Stefan, and when she and Damon started to get "steamy," it made her realize even 더 많이 that Damon wasn't her boyfriend, yet she was treating him as such and it scared her to know she was still having these feelings for Damon. She thought it SHOULD be Stefan who was there, and she felt bad because she WANTED it to be Damon there. The thing that really helped enforce this thought was the porch scene at the end. I of course was angry when they were cockblocked 의해 Stefan, but can 당신 really blame him? He saw his GIRLFRIEND having an emotional conversation with Damon and he was JEALOUS. If even Stefan sees theres something going on between Damon and Elena then there DEFINETLY is. When Damon said, "You don't want to be like me," at first I thought Elena nodded her head, but then I saw that Elena was about to say something possibly to deny the accusation, but that was right when they were interrupted. When Elena was crying into Stefan's shoulder she said, "I'm having feelings I shouldn't be having." No those were not feelings towards killing 또는 craving blood because she already covered that a moment before, it was feelings for DAMON. I hated Elena until i re-watched this and realized she didn't really do anything wrong. The DE hug was magical and so was there conversion during that guy's speech. It made me so happy, to see Damon making her smile and laugh. This episode actually ADDED to Elena's feelings for Damon if that's even possible. So if 당신 still are mad at the writers (who didnt lie, this WAS a DE episode and it DID have a moment they got caught up in), 또는 still mad at Elena, 또는 just dissapointed, rewatch the episode from a different perspective and hopefully 당신 will see this episode the way the writer's clearly wanted us to. "The Five" nly increased the bond between Damon and Elena, and if she makes a heartbreaking confession to Stefan in 4x06, (its obviously about Damon) it means that her feelings for Damon has INTENSIFIED, and she didn't realize until AFTER this episode.

Delena01 Wow this answer has made me rethink the whole episode. I still feel like it was a DE episode even though I got really mad at Elena. I think by reading your view I understand a little better. I think that when Damon said ' You don't want to be like me' I think that actually she was going to say 'I don't want to be like Stefan. A ripper. I could be wrong, but that's what I was thinking but anyway Great answer :)

delenasalvatore Good points. I think the DE fanbase may have overreacted to it slightly, and that was due to the spoilers that led many of us to believe they were getting something 'more'. But I also watched the scenes again, and I honestly didn't feel that upset or mad at Elena. She pretty much admitted that she has feelings for Damon but she doesn't want to feel them because she knows that would be wrong. I'm working at another article on 4x04 because there are so many things I want to discuss. In the end, although the way the episode ended may have been disappointing and a tad predictable, there WAS progress on Elena's part. She's more like Damon and she knows it. But she doesn't think she should be. Also, she totally lied to Stefan's face when she told him how the evening went. The truth was, she was ENJOYING herself before Bonnie came along. She was having a good time. She learned to feed on people, erase their memory, without killing anyone. Exactly what Damon does, and she LIKED it. But she couldn't tell Stefan how the evening really went, for various reasons, so she told him what she thought he WANTED to hear from her. She can't even be honest with him anymore.
