“Aside from that, it does a lot with gender, it does a lot with race: things we like to think about critically. What’s nice about it is [that] it gives it in this really casual, pop-culture setting.”

That's pretty cool. I've heard of different college courses around the world that have focused on BtVS. I remember when I was in college friends used to call me all the time telling me they just discussed BtVS in one of their classes... but most of the time these were media classes or feminism classes. It's cool to focus a critical thinking course on BtVS. I can't think of any better subject than BtVS to encourage students to think critically about societal structures, social injustices, and socially constructed concepts that seem to dictate our lives (race, gender...).

I'm also glad to hear they have to read "Sex and the Slayer" in that class... it's a great book!
