 Old Fashioned German Shepherd
Old Fashioned German Shepherd
Whenever 당신 검색 for German Shepherd breeders, chances are, you'll run across some breeders claiming to breed Old Fashioned German Shepherds. 당신 might be wondering what that means. Let's get into the details.

*The majority of the info comes from German Shepherd Shop. Some info comes from some Old Fashioned German Shepherd breeders and German Shepherd Man on YouTube. There's a smidgeon of personal opinion too.

What is an Old Fashioned German Shepherd? An Old Fashioned German Shepherd is simply a German Shepherd that is larger and taller than the breed standard. They often stand up to 32 inches at the shoulder and weigh 120 to 150 pounds. From Schutzhaus German Shepherds: "Old Fashioned German Shepherds are taller, have straight backs, large bone structure, a longer life span, big heads, and generally larger than today's standards." Is that really what the original German Shepherds were? Simply put, no. They were actually smaller.

How big were the original German Shepherds? When German Shepherds were first bred 의해 Captain Max von Stephanitz, they were smaller than today's standards. Females weighed 40 to 55 pounds, and males weighed 65 to 75 pounds. That's because they were originally bred for sheepherding. I mean, it says it in the name shepHERD. After sheepherding became less common in Germany, Stephanitz bred the German Shepherd to be a bit larger in order to serve as a police 또는 military dog. Did he breed these giant, 150-pound German Shepherds? No, he bred them to be 60 to 80 pounds for females and 70 to 90 pounds for males.

What about structure? Many Old Fashioned German Shepherd breeders boast about their dogs' straight backs. They claim that because of this, their 개 are 안전한, 안전 from hip dysplasia. 개 with straighter backs are less likely to develop hip dysplasia, but it doesn't prevent hip dysplasia. Nearly every kennel club's breed standard for the German Shepherd says that the dog's back should be straight with a slight slope at the end. A good example is the Czech working line. It has a straight back with a slight slope at the end. I included a picture of Hansel, since he takes after the Czech working line, even though he's only one quarter Czech working line. Genetics are funny like that. Anyway, 당신 can see his back is straight with a slight slope at the end. The slope is not the cause of hip dysplasia. There are genetic components, but it's mostly caused 의해 environmental factors. They include: allowing a growing 강아지 to excessively run and/or jump, the wrong amount of calcium in a growing puppy's diet, allowing a growing 강아지 to climb stairs, allowing a growing 강아지 to jump into and out of high 프로필 vehicles, and allowing a growing 강아지 to jump onto and off of elevated surfaces, such your bed.

What about drive? Many Old Fashioned German Shepherd breeders boast about their 개 having low 또는 no drive. They claim that their 개 are not hyper like today's German Shepherds and make the perfect family companions like they were intended to be. That's not what the original German Shepherds were. They were bred to be working dogs, first and foremost. Working line German Shepherds like Hansel have drive, and usually lots of it. Hansel is a wonderful family companion, but if he's not given something to do throughout the day, he drives us crazy at night. If his exercise needs are met, he's content to lie on the 침상, 소파 and watch TV with us. That's what a German Shepherd should be. If 당신 want a German Shepherd with no drive, 당신 don't want a German Shepherd. 당신 want a dog that looks like a German Shepherd but behaves 더 많이 like a stuffed animal 또는 a lawn ornament. The pointy ears aren't what make the German Shepherd what it is. It's the drive, intelligence, and loyalty that make the breed what it is.

Finally, if 당신 want a German Shepherd that is larger than the breed standard, be my guest. However, it is very important to make sure 당신 choose a breeder who does not breed specifically to size. Size and 사무용 겉옷, 전반적인 appearance should be secondary to good health and a stable temperament. Only select a breeder who breeds 개 that pass their health tests and have stable temperaments. If 당신 do that, and take good care of your dog, you'll have a happy and healthy dog for many years to come.

Kayla requested me to write this, so here I go. I'm really sorry for what you're going through right now. I know what it's like to be an outcast, as I am one myself. It's painful and hard, but at the same time, it enables 당신 to empathize with other outcasts.

I just would like to remind 당신 that no matter what people say 또는 think about 당신 또는 your preferences, those are the very things that make 당신 special. They are just clearly missing out on what matters most, and that's unconditional love. Don't ever change, Kayla. It would be heartbreaking if 당신 did. Always remember that I and your other 프렌즈 here 사랑 당신 for who 당신 are.

And remember that 당신 are never, ever alone. We're here for 당신 and 당신 have all our support, especially during difficult times.

Peace and love,
~Kelly 🌟🌟🌟

Hi, everyone. I found this series of questions. They're supposed to be for your best friend, but I found them so interesting, I thought I'd answer them myself. It'll give 당신 all a chance to know me better. Layla, I'm curious to see how 당신 answer these. As for the rest of you, feel free to answer them, too.

1. What embarrasses 당신 the most and/or what’s been your most embarrassing moment? My sister talking about disgusting things at the 공식 만찬, 저녁 식사 표, 테이블 embarrasses me the most. Of course, my most embarrassing moment would have to be the time I fell on the track behind the elementary school in...

Hi, everyone. I'm feeling the need to vent again. I'm feeling sad and broken. It doesn't help that we're still in March.

March is not a good 월 for me. A lot of tragedies happened in March, including the death of my paternal grandfather and almost losing my mom to myocarditis. There was only one good thing that came out of March. That was my dog, 땅콩 Butter.

Peanut 버터 was my four-legged best friend. It's been nine months, and I still miss him every day. He was the only good thing that came out of March. He was born on March 17, 2004. He passed away during the early morning hours of...

Hi, everyone. I decided to share my life story. Some of this might make 당신 cry, so be sure to have a box of tissues ready. Here it goes.

I was born on May 23, 1996. I was the 초 born. My sister and I are a little over four and a half years apart. My mom actually 로스트 a baby in between the two of us. It was a tubal pregnancy, which means that the baby was developing inside the tube instead of the uterus. As a result, the doctor had to take the baby. Since it was too early to tell the gender, my mom imagines it was a boy. Anyway, I was a relatively quiet baby and seldom fussed.

As I grew,...

Hello, everyone. I thought that I would write an appreciation 기사 for my good friends. Here it goes.

Thank you, Layla for being there when I needed a shoulder to cry on. Last 년 was a 년 of ups and downs, and the ups didn't outweigh the downs. 당신 were there through it all. 당신 were my rock. 당신 held me up when I was standing on weak knees. I remember when we first met. I was the only one who was active on the Beatles 팬 club. I began to feel that I was the only one in my age group who cared about the Beatles. I was starting to lose hope, about to drown in hopelessness. 당신 came along...

Hey, everyone. I'm going to start this off 의해 saying that I am okay. I'm just having a hard time, and I need to get it off my chest to help me feel better. Here it goes.

The other day, my dad was watching the news, and as I was
eating 공식 만찬, 저녁 식사 with my mom, he told us, "One of the Monkees died." I was in shock and said, "What?!" He told me again. I asked him, "Which one?" He told me, "I believe it was Tork." I said, "Peter Tork?" My dad said, "Yeah." I am deeply saddened 의해 this. Peter was my favorite. He was so funny. He got really into it while playing bass. I cannot listen to the Monkees now....

I know 당신 think
You're someone I forgot.
But I haven't forgotten.
I could never forget you.
I'll never forget your smile.
I never saw 당신 without it.
I still miss 당신 every day.
I'm sorry I took 당신 for granted.
I hope 당신 can forgive me.
If I could do it all again,
I wouldn't have taken 당신 for granted.
I wouldn't have overlooked you.
I would've been a better friend.
I blamed your parents for their negligence,
But blaming them won't bring 당신 back.
The reason I hate 총 is your demise.
The reason I never take 프렌즈 for granted,
That's also the loss of you.

Both Paul and Kelly did this questionnaire, and Paul suggested that I do one in memory of 땅콩 Butter, similar to how Kelly did hers in memory of her dog, Yardie. Here it goes.

1. What was your pet's name? My pet's name was 땅콩 Butter.

2. What kind of pet was it and what breed? 땅콩 버터 was a dog, and he was a Collie, specifically a Rough Collie.

3. How long did 당신 have your pet? I had 땅콩 버터 from May 21, 2004 to May 7, 2018, so I almost had him for fourteen years.

4. How did 당신 get your pet? My parents got 땅콩 버터 for me as an early eighth birthday present.

5. How old was...

This 기사 is a special request from Kayla. So, here I go.

I know you've been feeling down recently, and that this Valentine's 일 is going to be 더 많이 painful for you. Your life hasn't always been easy, and I'm really sorry for everything you've been through.

However, I just would like to remind 당신 that 당신 are never alone. The 프렌즈 that you've made here care deeply about you, and we're always ready to support you. If the clouds get dark, I'm here to help 당신 find the silver lining.

I admire that, despite all of the bad things that happened, 당신 never became bitter. No matter what other people say, 당신 are wonderful just the way 당신 are. Remember that 당신 are loved forever!

Also, remember the lyrics to one of my all-time 가장 좋아하는 Beatles songs: "Any time at all, all 당신 gotta do is call, and I'll be there."

Peace and love

The 다음 day, Lydia was at another veterinary clinic to look for a new job. The receptionist told her to wait where she was. Lydia sat and waited. While she was waiting, she noticed someone crying. She asked, "Are 당신 okay?" The younger woman said, "I just had to have my dog put to sleep." Lydia said, "I'm sorry to hear that." The younger woman said, "I'll never be happy again." Lydia said, "That's just the grief talking." The younger woman asked, "How do 당신 know?" Lydia said, "When my dog, Fluffer Nutter, passed away, I thought I would never be happy again, but things got better with time."...
