Idk, I guess It kinda bothers me that people are talking too much FT SAO Tokyo ghoul and other main streams I guess, and that I think a lot of anime needs more attention

i do both but tend to prioritize lesser known anime. popular anime is most likely going to stay popular so i can always go back to it. i love looking at underrated lists to kinda get a different experience. not that i don't watch and love some mainstream anime but they're not really a priority.
