When I first started watching Naruto, my thoughts were 'Meh, it's okay, it's got potential, I could carry on watching this. It's not as good as Avatar: The Last Airbender, or The Penguins of Madagascar, but oh well.' It wasn't until I got to the chunin exams I began to find it really really wonderful.

^ Agreed! It really annoys me when people do that. I gave Bleach about 30 episodes... I couldn't get into it... Sorry, Bleach fans. I tend to give longer anime more episodes, because they're generally slower to develop. I'm enjoying One Piece, though - I've watched 50 episodes. I don't want to join the club, yet, however, for fear of spoilers... Ah, sorry, I ramble. I'm in the mood to blab a lot today. XP

Depends,I never judge based on the first episode,because so much can happen over the course of a series the episode is just everything coming together,it never tells the full story,some series' take longer to develop than others,I may give some longer than others.

It's not really about "not thinking much of the anime" for me. I always try to see an anime through till the end. I've never stopped out of boredom or a loss of interest. When I drop something, it's usually out of frustration towards the main character or the plot development.

If the anime can't pull me in at the beginning then I don't watch it. Just like what you learn in school when you write essays, narratives, etc. You wanna pull in the reader with the first chapter.

What I do is that if there's a particular series I want to get into but not sure if it's good or not, I just go online, look up research or read reviews from both professionals and others who've seen it and then go through it to see where it'll take me. While it may not be the best thing, it's just easy on me. :)
