I suppose it depends on perspective, but I see this as a rather large question. Does anime/cartoons bring about violence? Does violence bring about a lust for it in anime/cartoons, 또는 does the media's portrayal of violence do so? Is it all just one large, ceaseless cycle of violence generation and the creation of increasingly violent TV in general?

I'll start 의해 saying that I don't buy into the mentality that video games, TV 또는 영화 cause people to become violent. Someone who is mentally unstable enough to go out and shoot up a school is not going to be dissuaded from it 의해 showing 더 많이 family-friendly entertainment. There's a lot 더 많이 involved than what a person watches 또는 plays in their mentality, and I believe that the way someone is raised plus their general mental state are far 더 많이 key in global outbreaks of violence.

That being said, I think there is a factor of desensitization that does play a role in how these are perceived. Let's face it - if you've seen an intensely gory 아니메 (see: Elfen Lied), the death and blood can eventually seem to become background noise as it's so constantly present. I'd say that there's a much clearer delineation between anime/cartoons and reality than there is between, say, the GTA series 또는 Die Hard and reality, so it's probably a smaller part of the 사무용 겉옷, 전반적인 problem, but it's not something that should be ignored.

As for the other way around, I definitely feel that there's an increased interest in violence in 아니메 as a result of a culture of violence that we're presented with. I'd say that violence just generally makes for interesting situations and 더 많이 vivid entertainment, but I can't say whether that feeling is generated as a result of my own feelings on the matter 또는 because of the influences around me. We live in a world that is full of violence, and we hear about it all the time. 당신 can't turn on the news without seeing a violent story.

But I'm not sure if that's a bad thing. Sure, it cycles back to desensitization, but I think it allows for a lot of creativity. It's the violence in the world that spawns many of my best ideas for 아니메 RPs, and I like the interplay it creates between characters. None of us like violence in the real world, but enjoying it in the fake can be soothing, and flexing our creative muscles is nothing to scoff at.

No. It isn't just perspective. It is a broad 질문 and it was also intentional. Basically, I just wanted to know the thoughts of those who answer, because everyone will answer differently, 또는 rather, have a different perspective. Basically, I'm unsure as to whether anime/cartoons bring about a an increase in violence, 또는 violence bringing out a lust for anime/cartoons... And, that is a good question, is it really just an endless cycle, 또는 is there far 더 많이 to it than meets the eye? In that, I think 당신 are right. I don't think watching 아니메 또는 만화 really contributes to violence at all - there might be special cases where that happens, though I've never heard of it happening, but I think it is 더 많이 to do with other things that are brought up 의해 society, rather than results of watching 아니메 and such. Also, I completely agree that violence in 아니메 has gotten people 더 많이 interested, simply from the increased violence in the world today. Maybe it's just their way of coping with it, so that they only have to see animated violence, rather than too much real-life violence. Anyway, a good and thoughtful answer, Flame. I really never expect anything less from you, though. 당신 seem to lap these kind of 질문 up.

Heh, what can I say? Things like this drive me to think, so I spew those thoughts out on a page. Always seem kinda disorganized to me when I look back, but sometimes I'm surprised at what I think up.

Nah, if 당신 call that disorganised, then I'd hate to see what 당신 other people's disorganised. Haha. But, yeah, 당신 do tend spew out some interesting thoughts. That must be why 당신 are good at debating.

i think humans are wired for violence and violence in 아니메 video games is a good way to enjoy that aspect of our humanity without causing harm. i'm sure it could have influence on some people's violent behavior, but those people probably have bigger problems than 아니메 and games.

^ Perhaps. 당신 approached the 질문 in much the same way I kind of assumed a lot of people would. The 질문 is does violence affect how people view anime/cartoons, 또는 does watching anime/cartoons influence how people think about violence, 또는 is it a little of both? Anyway, an interesting insight and answer. Thanks.

Isn't that what a rating system is for? 아니메 with a lot of violence tends to be rated R, which means children shouldn't be watching it in the first place. It's like saying there should be less violence in 영화 and then pointing to Kill Bill as an example - we don't want kids going out with a sword and hacking off their friends' body parts, but it's not the fault of the movie when it actively tells kids that they shouldn't watch it.

^ Generally it isn't more, though. That's why there's not too much gore in most 아니메 series, excluding ones that are supposed to be like that. XD

To me, it's alright. I have seen a lot of 아니메 with violence in it. But I don't really like ones which have graphic and bloody violence. Dragon Ball mainly has lots of terribly brutal fighting and violence. For example: The fight with Vegeta, The Cell games, Videl fighting Spopovich and the Majin Buu threat.

I prefer anime's which have nice scenes and have no violence. I am not saying that It should be banned, I am just saying that I prefer nice anime's 더 많이 than brutal anime's. Cartons have had some brutal violence too, like Tom and Jerry. So, I think that violence in 아니메 is alright, but I don't like it when it gets too bloody and graphic.
