President Obama & His new Dog, Bo
President Obama & His new Dog, Bo
April 29,2009

Today was President Barack Obama's 100th 일 in office. So, what has Obama done for, 또는 against, 동물 in his first 100 days in office?

Expectations were high during campaign season. Obama and VP Joe Biden both had great records on animal issues heading into the election, and won the endorsement of the Humane Society Legislative Fund. One disappointment was Obama's statement that a hunter should head the Department of the Interior. Despite pleas from animal advocates, Obama appointed a hunter, Senator Ken Salazar, as Secretary of the Interior. However, Obama also appointed animal-friendly...

At the 대학 of Michigan, cats--who in the past have been purchased 의해 the UM from animal shelters--have a hard plastic tube repeatedly forced down their windpipes for intubation training and are frequently killed after the procedure. Pigs have holes cut into their throats and chests and are stabbed in the 심장 for trauma-training exercises before they are killed. These cruel labs continue even though the 대학 uses simulators to teach nearly all the same skills in other courses on campus.

When 당신 euthanize an animal it means 당신 give a medicine to an animal to stop its heart. Yes, that means 당신 kill it. Most people prefer the term "put to sleep".

My family does euthanize our pets, but only when they are suffering and have no hope of living. We recently had to put down our Beagle, (thats a dog) Peaches. She was old and quickly dieing and we didnt want her to suffer. I beleive this is part of animal rights. Some people dont think its right to do that. But 당신 want the best thing for your pets, right?

If your pet is suffering, please consider this.

An American horse enters the kill box at a Mexican slaughter plant.
Frenzied hooves beat against the wet cement as 말 of all 색깔 and ages file through the line. Poked with an electric prod, they are forced down the crammed alley of the Mexican horse slaughter plant. As the chute opens, the workers whistle and holler. A gray horse slips, falling to his hind legs. Panicked, he lunges 앞으로 and takes his final steps into the "kill" box.

As the horse drops his head to smell the blood, a worker grabs his long mane and plunges a 칼, 나이프 into his neck, Stunned, the horse throws his neck and, ten 초 later, is stabbed again. As the horse collapses to the...

Almost all of us grew up eating meat, wearing leather, and going to circuses and zoos. We never considered the impact of these actions on the 동물 involved. For whatever reason, 당신 are now asking the question: Why should 동물 have rights? LEARN MORE.

Animal rights. A topic I feel stongly about and stand firm on. When it comes to animals, I hate to refer to them as 동물 even. Humans are 동물 as well and yet they think they are smarter and better. Really 동물 seem to be smarter and have a lot 더 많이 common sense than humans. Despite the small seperation of ourselves from our brothers on earth, we still think we own the world. And the way we're going, destroying the enviroment and killing off all the creatures we shareour homes with, we will.

It's gotten to a point where spieces are on the brink of extinction- some aleady gone- and...

So 당신 believe in animal rights, huh? Well, good for you! Unfortunately, half the world doesn't. The big governments and corporations have no caring for animal rights whatsoever.

How many fast 음식 ads a 일 do 당신 see advertising meat 또는 something related? I'd say at least 20 for me, and I hardly watched any today! These commercials bring people in, and the customers eat their burgers. But when was the last time 당신 got something vegetarian at McDonald's? Exactly. It's all meat, and that results in thousands of 동물 being raised in captivity and eventually killed. They never even get to...

Poisoning, shocking, burning, and killing 동물 is all in a day's work for vivisectors. If these atrocious acts were committed outside laboratories, they would be felonies. But 동물 suffer and die every 일 in laboratories with little 또는 no protection from cruelty. Here are the 상단, 맨 위로 reasons why it needs to stop:

It's unethical to sentence 100 million thinking, feeling 동물 to life in a laboratory cage and intentionally cause them pain, loneliness, and fear.
It's bad science. The 음식 and Drug Administration reports that 92 out of every 100 drugs that pass animal tests fail in humans.

In recent years, pit bulls have gained 더 많이 than just a foothold in the public awareness. Unscrupulous breeding and negative media attention have resulted in many apartment complexes, neighborhoods and even counties imposing bans on the breed, citing them as "inherently dangerous" to the public.

But did 당신 know that pit bulls, despite the fact that they were originally bred to fight with each other, were also bred to be trustworthy and friendly to people? These 개 actually earned the nickname "nursemaid's dog," because they were so reliable with young children.

Today, however, the breed often...

What Is a 강아지 Mill?

A 강아지 mill is a large-scale commercial dog breeding operation where profit is given priority over the well-being of the dogs. Unlike responsible breeders, who place the utmost importance on producing the healthiest 강아지 possible, breeding at 강아지 mills is performed without consideration of genetic quality. This results in generations of 개 with unchecked hereditary defects.

Puppy mill 강아지 are typically sold to pet shops—usually through a broker, 또는 middleman—and marketed as young as eight weeks of age. The lineage records of 강아지 mill 개 are often falsified....

Cockfighting—a blood sport in which two roosters specifically bred for aggressiveness are placed beak to beak in a small ring and encouraged to fight to the death—has been around for centuries. I'm probably going to get a lot of hate for this article. I do support animal rights just as much as everyone else on this club, though people with probably tell me otherwise. I'm just saying--you don't have to be vegetarian to 사랑 animals!

So, I've seen a lot of people posting on here about being vegetarian, and how it's wrong to eat meat. They say that it hurts 동물 to eat meat. They compare it to cannibalism.
These things they say; they're not true.
To say it's wrong to eat meat is ridiculous. We have canine teeth. Canine teeth are for eating meat, not plants. We wouldn't have canine teeth...

Here is a poem I wrote today in biology. I'd might as well update it while this sight isn't glitchy on this dinosaur, lol

My outcome is bleak,
I suppress a grieving cry,
"Help me! Help me!
I want to die!"

Since I opened my eyes
To look at this blasted world,
My canine body, fragile,
My life will be chaotic and whirl

In a pool of dismay,
Like the tears that dare fall,
As my new master grabbed my scruff the wrong way;
The first time that my skin would crawl.

An outrageous turn of events,
That take turmoil in my life,
"Help me! Help me!
I want to die!"

My master treated me well,
My first six months 또는 so,
Then the...
